In line with the observance of Fire Prevention Month, the Fire Activity Youth Response (FAYR) continues to engage Laoagueño youth in a transformative initiative focused on emergency preparedness and leadership development.
Held at the Barangay 1 San Lorenzo Covered Court and Central Terminal, Batch 1 participants underwent a full day of learning and action, beginning with workshop sessions that strengthened their knowledge, coordination, and teamwork. The afternoon featured simulation exercises and competitive drills, where participants applied their skills in high-energy scenarios.
Teams competed across various emergency response challenges, including Busted Hose, Rescue Transfer Relay, Bucket Relay, and Fire Extinguisher drills. Demonstrating exceptional performance, Cluster 2 and Cluster 3 emerged as winners of the day’s competitions.
The activity is spearheaded by the Laoag City Youth Development Office, led by Youth Development Officer IV Harold G. Domingo, in collaboration with the Bureau of Fire Protection–Laoag City under Acting City Fire Marshal FSINSP Edison M. Reyes, and in partnership with the SK Federation Laoag City.
FAYR is set to continue on April 7–8 at the same venue, featuring the competing clusters of Batch 2. Winners from the different batches will advance to the highly anticipated FAYR Olympics, where top-performing teams will compete for cash prizes and trophies.
