The Negosyo Center Business Counselors of the Department of Trade and Industry – Ilocos Norte (DTI Ilocos Norte) were privileged to serve as resource speakers in a series of community-based trainings organized by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Region I and the Laoag City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).

📍 Marketing Assistance and Enterprise Development Training
🗓️ 18 September 2025 | Tribal Center, Dumalneg
The training gathered 16 participants, who gained insights on marketing strategies and enterprise development to enhance their livelihood opportunities.

🗓️ 2 October 2025 | Adams
A total of 14 participants actively engaged in discussions on product promotion, pricing, and basic entrepreneurship.

🗓️ 14 October 2025 | Brgy. Ablan, Burgos
With 20 participants in attendance, the session emphasized the importance of market linkage and sustainable enterprise growth.

🗓️ 16 October 2025 | Municipal Hall, Carasi (BEST Game: Business, Expense, and Savings Training)
The activity benefitted 15 participants, who learned practical approaches to financial literacy and resource management through interactive sessions.

📍 Basic Business Management and Skills Development Training
🗓️ 17 October 2025 | Brgy. 27, Laoag City
The training was successfully conducted with 200 participants, focusing on basic business management, financial literacy, and bookkeeping to strengthen micro-enterprise operations.

Through these collaborative efforts, DTI Ilocos Norte provided lectures on essential business concepts such as product costing, pricing, financial management, and livelihood sustainability — all aimed at capacitating local entrepreneurs and community members toward economic self-sufficiency.

DTI Ilocos Norte extends its sincere appreciation to BFAR Region I and the Laoag CSWDO for their continued partnership in promoting inclusive and sustainable community development across the province.

On August 29, 2025, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Ilocos Norte conducted a Small Business Corporation (SBC) Orientation at the Municipal Evacuation Center in Bangui, Ilocos Norte. The activity was attended by 82 Barangay Captains and Barangay Secretaries from the municipalities of Bangui, Burgos, and Pagudpud.

The orientation aimed to educate and engage barangay officials on the financial assistance programs and services offered by SBC, thereby equipping them with the knowledge to guide their constituents in accessing these opportunities.

Ms. Kareen J. Mirasol, SBC Provincial Coordinator – Ilocos Norte, discussed the SBC Loan Programs and Requirements, while Atty. Clyde Ciddrick S. Yapit, Attorney III of DTI Region 1, presented the Legal Basis for the Issuance of Barangay Clearances to MSMEs and the Legal Risks of Improper Issuance of Barangay Clearances.

Through this initiative, DTI continues to strengthen the capacity of local leaders in supporting MSMEs toward sustainable economic development.

Yes. Business Name Registration only provides legal identity to a business. To operate and business, you need to get a Business or Mayor's Permit from the local government.

Meron na akong DTI Business Name Registration. Kailangan ko pa bang kumuha ng Business/Mayor’s Permit?

Oo. Ang Business Name Registration ay nagbibigay lamang ng legal identity sa isang negosyo. Para makapag-operate and business, kailangang kumuha ng Business o Mayor’s Permit mula sa local government.

Morning Session: “SELL SMART: A Seminar on the Do’s, Don’ts & Must‑Knows of Online Selling”
Participants gained practical, hands-on tips to build and grow their businesses online and the energy in the room was amazing!

Hands-On page Creation
Participants got creative: they designed mock-up posts for their pages. And even set up actual business Pages for several KALIPI members, ready to showcase their products to the world! 🌍

Midday Spotlight: Financial Literacy
A brief but impactful discussion covered crucial topics like basic bookkeeping, budgeting, and managing cash flow.

Afternoon Workshop: “The Entrepreneur’s Ledger: Business, Savings & Expense Simulation”
Members experienced a dynamic role-play simulation that brought real‑life business scenarios to life, perfect for mastering money management in a fun, interactive way.

Based on our post‑activity surveys, the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Seeing our members apply what they learned, especially in creating their own FB pages, made this training truly meaningful.
