President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. today signed into law Republic Act No. 12325, or the Act Enhancing the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act, which originated in the House as House Bill No. 8476.
As one of the authors of the amendments to the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act (UAQTEA), I remind the Commission on Higher Education, TESDA, and implementing schools to swiftly issue their implementing rules. This way, the amendments can be done and felt by the beneficiaries as soon as this school year.

The main goal of this new law is to make it easier for beneficiary students to settle their accounts on time and with much less hassle.
The other major goal is to make it easier for schools and other implementers to comply with the law and rules.
We in Congress were particularly meticulous in crafting the amendments. Each amendment is a direct solution to the problems and situations encountered since the UAQTEA took effect nine years ago.
This law is about lessons learned. It added benefits, removed unnecessary requirements, enabled implementers to mobilize additional personnel, and streamlined reporting and monitoring. (END)
