𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗩𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘 | 4H South Cotabato Youth Pyesta 2026

The 4H South Cotabato Youth Pyesta was successfully conducted on April 15–16, 2026 at the Provincial Demo Farm, Brgy. Reyes, Banga, South Cotabato. Spearheaded by the Provincial Agriculture Office (OPAg), the activity showcased the active engagement, skills development, and leadership of young farmers across the province.

Participants from the municipality were facilitated by the Municipal Agriculture Office headed by Acting Municipal Agriculturist Felimon E. Elloran Jr., represented by Engr. Christine Joy A. Dormido, Municipal 4H Coordinator.

3rd Place – On-the-Spot Photography: Vil Audrey Flores Melos

These achievements reflect the dedication, competence, and excellence of our young farmers, truly embodying the core values of 4H—Head, Heart, Hands, and Health.

Their success brings pride and honor to the municipality.

Office of the Municipal Agriculturist (OMAG) headed by Acting MAO Mr. Felimon E. Elloran Jr. in collaboration with the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist headed by Dr. Raul D. Teves successfully conducted crop Cut for Hybrid Corn On - Farm Adaptability Verification Trial in Brgy. Poblacion,Lake Sebu.

The Activity facilitated by The Provincial Research Team led by Mr. Sonny C Cuenca,Farm Superintendent along with Ms. Joyce Ameller,Oic Section Chief with Demo Farm Staff in close coordination with Mr. Lebert M
Ulo,Farm Superintendent II.

In attendance also, Mr. Jason John Ulo, Research Coordinator along with BSCD OJT students who assisted the provincial team in harvesting and Data Collection.

The Cooperator Maam Elizabeth Maso thanks the OPAG and OMAG for the opportunity to be part of the provincial program in research and development.

LGU Lake Sebu through OMAG extend its gratitute to the Provincial agriculturist Office for the support in research and development in the munivipality.

1st Quarterly Meeting of the Municipal Agriculture and Fisheries Council (MAFC)

The Office of the Municipal Agriculturist headed by OIC Mr. Felimon E. Elloran, Led by Mr. Lebert M. Ulo,RAgr. Farm Superintendent II along with Mr. Jason John Ulo,RAgr. MAFC coordinator in coordination with the Municipal Agriculture and Fisheries Council (MAFC) Led by Mr. Paulino Donggon successfully conducted its 1st Quarterly Meeting to strengthen collaboration and ensure responsive agricultural governance in the municipality.

The Municipal Agriculture and Fisheries Council (MAFC) is a local advisory body composed of representatives from farmers, fisherfolk, and other stakeholders. It plays a vital role in policy formulation, program planning, and ensuring that the needs and voices of the agriculture and fisheries sectors are properly represented in local governance.

Purpose of the Meeting:
The meeting aimed to provide updates and align plans across key agricultural programs, including:
• Rice Program
• Corn Program
• High-Value Crops
• Livestock Program
• Fisheries Program Organic Program

The activity was also attended by Mr. Loreto Baay, MFARMC Chairman and Regional Director for Mangingisda 2026, who shared valuable insights and guidance to further strengthen fisheries development and sectoral coordination.

Importance of the Meeting
In the face of current challenges such as the crisis and continuous drought situation.

The role of MAFC and OMAG becomes even more critical. It serves as a platform for:
✔️ Immediate coordination and information sharing
✔️ Identification of urgent needs and vulnerabilities of farmers and fisherfolk
✔️ Recommendation of timely interventions and climate-resilient strategies
✔️ Strengthening unity and collective action within the sector

Through this, the municipality ensures that programs remain adaptive, inclusive, and responsive—especially during climate-related stresses that directly affect food production and livelihoods.

The Provincial Agriculture Office, headed by Dr. Raul D. Teves, through its Organic Agriculture Program led by Ms. Sheila Lastimosa, RAg, Organic Agriculture Focal Person, in coordination with the Municipal Agriculture Office headed by OIC MAO Mr. Felimon E. Elloran, conducted a farmers’ validation activity for two associations: the Lake Sebu Indigenous Women’s Farmers Association (LASIWFA) and the Upper Allah Valley Organic Producers Inc. (UAVOPI).

The activity aimed to assess and validate the farmers’ needs, particularly their production requirements, to ensure that appropriate assistance and interventions can be provided to support and improve their farming operations.

In addition, the Provincial Organic Agriculture Program delivered organic inputs to the Upper Allah Valley Organic Producers Inc. (UAVOPI) as part of its continuing support to local farmers and partners.

Empowering Women in Agriculture!

The Municipal Agriculture Office, headed by Acting Municipal Agriculturist Felimon E. Elloran Jr., conducted an Orientation on the Rural Improvement Club (Women in Agriculture) and provided updates on agricultural programs for women to the members of the Women of Virtue Harvest and Rural Development Association on March 16, 2026, held at Prk. Malipayon, Lake Lahit, Lake Sebu, South Cotabato.

This activity aims to empower women in agriculture in Lake Sebu by strengthening their knowledge, participation, and involvement in agricultural development initiatives.

During the activity, the Municipal Agriculture Office staff also shared important updates on ongoing and upcoming programs for women in agriculture, encouraging active participation and collaboration among women farmers in the community.

Together, we continue to support and uplift women as key partners in achieving sustainable agricultural development in Lake Sebu.

The Department of Agriculture – Agricultural Training Institute (DA-ATI) is now accepting applications for Youth Interns and Partners under the 2026 Mentoring and Attracting Youth in Agribusiness (MAYA) Internship Program!

Choose your track:
Entrepreneurship Track – Partner with top-tier agri-enterprises and gain the skills to build your own venture.
Employment Track – Experience hands-on learning within agriculture-related agencies.

This six-month internship program will capacitate the youth through mentorship, orientation, basic skills training, and 20 weeks of on-site internship. Interns will be equipped with technical knowledge, soft skills, and real-world exposure in agriculture-related offices and enterprises — all under the guidance of professionals.
