With the elections fast approaching, this needs to be said.

Every month, our elected officials — mayors, vice mayors, councilors, representatives, and senators — receive high salaries.

And where does that money come from? From us. From the taxes we pay.
Yes, even students, housewives, and the unemployed contribute — every time you buy something, you pay VAT.
We are the ones funding their salaries.

While many of us struggle to survive on minimum wage — with deductions and rising living costs — we must realize how critical it is to vote wisely.

Their job is to:

Represent our interests

Create laws and policies to improve lives

Manage public resources responsibly — including the money we work so hard to earn

But sadly, too often we see:
They earn more than enough, enjoy countless perks and benefits — and still, some choose to steal.
Then they distract us with dance moves or sweet promises — and we forget what’s at stake.

Meanwhile, we who pay their salaries live paycheck to paycheck.
Is that fair to you?

Choose leaders with integrity.
Leaders who understand sacrifice.
Leaders who won’t just talk — but will act for the good of all.

Your vote isn’t just for today — it will shape the next 6 years.
And it may define the future your children will live in.

This again and again.

This again and again.

Many Filipinos are asking: Why are our politicians paid so much while real professionals, like teachers and professors, earn much less—even after decades of hard work?

Let’s take a look at the numbers:

A Congressman in the Philippines earns around ₱302,741 per month (plus other allowances).

A Professor XII, the highest rank in state universities, earns about ₱180,492 per month.

But here’s the difference:
To become a professor, one needs 30 years or more of experience—teaching students, doing research, publishing studies, and handling university work. On the other hand, many politicians get elected based on popularity, not necessarily skills or experience.

What’s even more frustrating is that some politicians spend more time singing, dancing, smiling for the camera, or attending events—instead of making real laws or solving real problems.

This raises an important question:
Are we paying the right people the right amount?

And should we reward entertainment and politics more than education and public service?
