In the years of martial law the deceptive calm air hummed in the streets of our country. The government promised progress and order, and claimed peace. At first glance, it seemed trueโ€”crime rates dropped, curfews ensured quiet nights, and the economy appeared to be on the rise. But behind the assuring mask of stability, whispers of fear became louder. Filipinos kept their voices low, careful about what they said and to whom they would. The silence became unbearably loud as people disappeared into the night without a trace. Yet, in this time of unjust control, the Filipino spirit remained quietly defiant.

Beneath the surface of propaganda and promises, brave souls started to emerge. In secret meetings and quiet corners, people spoke of stolen freedoms, injustice, and dreams of reclaiming democracy. The press, though silenced by censorship, found subtle ways to tell the truth, through hidden messages. It was a time of shadows ang silent shouts, but also a time of courage. For every act of oppression, there were sparks of resistanceโ€”small, but still ignited and managed to burn. The painful history may have cast a long shadow, but it could never fully extinguish the light of a people determined to rise. For every lost soul, in the history of Martial law, people of today could find where in history they have found their stolen rights.
