What started as a simple backyard venture in 2013 has grown into a thriving local enterprise, proving that innovation, determination, and the right support can turn ordinary resources into business opportunities.

The owner of Melgie's Food Products began her entrepreneurial journey after recognizing the potential of adding value to locally abundant bananas, which were often sold at low prices. Combining her passion for business and cooking, she spent more than a year perfecting her signature syrup formula and remains committed to producing preservative-free products that prioritize quality and authenticity.

As the business developed, she saw an opportunity to create greater value within the community. Observing that bananas and taro from nearby farms were being transported elsewhere for processing, she envisioned local production that could generate additional income for farmers and create livelihood opportunities within the area.

Early in her journey, she registered her business with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), recognizing the importance of legitimacy and business development. Through the years, DTI became a valuable partner, providing guidance and opportunities that helped strengthen her enterprise.

A major breakthrough came in 2018 when she joined the Kapatid Mentor ME (KMME) Program. The mentorship equipped her with practical business knowledge, helping her identify priorities and develop strategies for sustainable growth.

Today, Melgie's Food Products continues to expand its market presence. Its products are available in several establishments across Surallah and Banga, as well as Mall of Ace Centerpoint, with plans to enter larger retail markets in the future.

Despite her achievements, she remains committed to continuous learning and encourages fellow entrepreneurs to persevere through challenges. For her, success in business comes from consistency, patience, and the determination to keep moving forward.

From humble beginnings to becoming a recognized local brand, Melgie's Food Products exemplifies how resilience, innovation, and strategic support can create lasting opportunities for both entrepreneurs and their communities.
