DSWD 12 Pag-abot Program conducts reach-out and profiling activity in General Santos City

The DSWD 12 Pag-abot Program, in partnership with the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) of General Santos City and its Quick Response Team, conducted a two-day reach-out and profiling activity on September 3–4, 2026 in identified areas where persons in street situations (PSS) were located. The activity aimed to identify potential beneficiaries, assess their current living conditions and needs, and determine appropriate interventions and support under the Pag-Abot Program.

During the two-day operation, the team successfully profiled seven (7) Individuals in Street Situations (ISS) and two (2) Families in Street Situations (FISS) composed of three (3) family members, for a total of twelve (12) individuals. Of those profiled, one (1) ISS declined the reach-out intervention but voluntarily consented to undergo profiling and be included in the program’s documentation for future monitoring and possible assistance.

The team also encountered individuals and families who were not receptive to the intervention. A total of three (3) ISS and five (5) FISS, comprising twenty-one (21) family members or 29 individuals in total, declined to be interviewed and profiled despite being informed of the objectives, available services, and potential benefits of the DSWD Pag-Abot Program. Their decision was respected in accordance with the principle of voluntary participation and ethical social work practice.

To sustain engagement and strengthen efforts to reach vulnerable individuals and families, the DSWD Pag-Abot Program, in coordination with the CSWDO, will continue conducting reach-out activities, case monitoring, and rapport-building initiatives. These efforts seek to gradually encourage their participation and facilitate access to appropriate social welfare services, reintegration assistance, and other available government interventions.
