MANDATE (Per EO #133, 27 Feb. 1987)

“The primary coordinative, promotive, facilitative and regulatory arm of the government for the country’s trade, industry and investment activities”

Further mandated to:

“Act as a catalyst for intensified private sector activity in order to accelerate and sustain economic growth through:

1) A comprehensive industrial growth strategy;

2) A progressive and soc

ially responsive liberalization and deregulation program, and diversification of trade, both domestic and foreign”

Functions:

1) Implement pertinent laws, rules and regulations, plans, programs, and projects of DTI;

2) Provide efficient and effective service to the people;

3) Coordinate with the regional offices of other departments, offices, and agencies in the region;

4) Coordinate with Local Government Units;

5) Perform other functions as may be provided by law or assigned by the Secretary.
