General Santos City โ€” The RTWPB-XII trained its focus on the business community today, September 3, 2026, as it conducted a Sectoral Consultation on Minimum Wage Determination for Private Establishments and Domestic Workers with the Chamber of Commerce in Region XII. Attended by 43 participants, the activity opened a direct line between the Board and the region's employers, providing a dedicated venue for business owners to voice their opinions, concerns, and on-the-ground realities as the wage-setting process moves forward.

More than a listening exercise, the consultation embodied RTWPB-XII's tripartite spirit, led by Regional Director Imelda F. Gatinao of the DOLE-XII and Board's Chairperson. With labor representatives also present, the discussion remained balanced and inclusive. Having both business and labor voices in the same room allowed for a fuller, more grounded exchange, employers raising perspectives on business sustainability and operating costs, while labor representatives echoed the concerns and aspirations of the workforce. This kind of dialogue is central to the Board's mandate: no single sector's view stands alone, but is weighed alongside the others to arrive at a wage determination that is fair to both labor and industry.

The session drew candid and constructive input from Chamber of Commerce members, who shared insights on the current business climate, workforce challenges, and the potential impact of wage adjustments on micro, small, and medium enterprises across the region. These sentiments, together with the points raised by labor sector, add another critical layer to the growing body of data being gathered through RTWPB-XII's series of consultations spanning the different sectors and areas of Region XII, reinforcing the Board's commitment to consult widely before arriving at any wage decision.

With the Chamber of Commerce sectoral consultation now part of the record, RTWPB-XII moves one step closer to a well-rounded, evidence-based deliberation. The Board extends its sincere appreciation to the Chamber of Commerce and the labor representatives who took part, affirming that every voice plays a role in shaping a minimum wage that works for Region XII.

The activity drew a total of 69 participants representing the private establishment sector, labor and management groups, and partner national government agencies operating in the region.

The consultation forms part of the Board's continuing efforts to gather sectoral positions and ground-level data that will guide its deliberation on the region's minimum wage rates. Through this series of dialogues, employers and workers are given equal opportunity to present their respective concerns, ensuring that any policy direction the Board takes remains grounded in the lived realities of both business operations and the workforce.

Resource speakers from key government agencies enriched the discussion with relevant socio-economic data. A representative from the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) XII presented the Regional Socio-Economic Profile, providing participants with a broader view of the region's economic indicators and development trends. This was followed by a presentation from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) XII on Price and Supply Monitoring in Region XII, which offered participants insight into current market conditions affecting the cost of basic goods and commodities.

The session gained further momentum during the workshop proper, where participants from the labor and management sectors actively engaged in small-group discussions on wage consultation. Through this exercise, participants were able to articulate their respective insights, concerns, and recommendations, all of which will be consolidated and factored into the Board's ongoing deliberation process as it works toward a data-driven determination on the region's minimum wage.

The RTWPB-XII extends its sincere appreciation to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) General Santos City Field Office for its valuable partnership in the successful conduct of this consultation. As the series of sectoral consultations progresses across the region, the Board reaffirms its commitment to an inclusive and evidence-based process, one that gives due weight to the voices of every sector with a stake in the region's wage-setting policies.

KIDAPAWAN CITY, Cotabato Province โ€” The voices of workers, employers, and various sectors across Cotabato Province resounded loud and clear as the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) XII conducted its ๐Ÿฏ๐—ฟ๐—ฑ ๐—ฃ๐˜‚๐—ฏ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ฐ ๐—–๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜€๐˜‚๐—น๐˜๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐— ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ถ๐—บ๐˜‚๐—บ ๐—ช๐—ฎ๐—ด๐—ฒ ๐——๐—ฒ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—บ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐—ฃ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐˜ƒ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฒ ๐—˜๐˜€๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ฏ๐—น๐—ถ๐˜€๐—ต๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜๐˜€ ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐——๐—ผ๐—บ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜๐—ถ๐—ฐ ๐—ช๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ธ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€ last August 28 at the AJ Hi-Time Hotel here. The gathering drew an impressive turnout of at least 220 participants, a testament to the growing public interest and active engagement in shaping a wage policy that is fair, evidence-based, and responsive to the real conditions of Region XII's labor force.

Graced by the presence of the Board itself, the consultation stood out for the overwhelming support and enthusiastic participation shown by stakeholders from Cotabato Province. Employers, labor groups, partnered government agencies, and members of the informal sector came together in one venue, freely sharing their insights, concerns, and recommendations. This strong show of unity reflects a shared understanding that a well-informed minimum wage is not merely a number set from behind a desk, but a decision that must be grounded on the lived realities of those it will directly affect โ€” from factory floors to household kitchens where domestic workers serve.

This activity forms part of RTWPB-XII's continuing series of public consultations being rolled out across the different areas of Region XII, deliberately designed to reach both the formal and informal sectors. By bringing the consultation process closer to the ground, the Board ensures that no voice is left unheard and no data gap is left unfilled. Each consultation serves as a vital avenue for gathering ground-level, sector-specific information that will anchor the Board's eventual wage order in facts, not assumptions, upholding its mandate to balance the needs of labor and the capacity of industries to sustain growth.

RTWPB-XII extends its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who took part and made this consultation a resounding success. The journey toward a just and responsive minimum wage continues and it is being built, consultation by consultation, on the genuine participation of the very people it seeks to serve.
