IN PHOTOS | The Soccsksargen Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) held its first Trail Run on Saturday, August 29, in Malungon town, Sarangani, replacing the previous fun run format.
This event, organized and led by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Region 12, is part of the observance of this year's National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM).
In his message, OCD Regional Director Rod Sosmeรฑa, chairperson of the RDRRMC-12, addressed the reasons for the postponement of the observance, which is supposed to kick off in July. He attributed the delay to the recent 7.8-magnitude earthquake that significantly impacted Soccsksargen, particularly in Sarangani and General Santos City.
Sosmeรฑa expressed his gratitude to the local government of Malungon for graciously hosting the event. He also acknowledged the active participation of council members, highlighting the importance of their involvement.
He noted that this involvement further signified a strong collaboration and unity toward the shared goal of enhancing preparedness and resilience among partner and member agencies, as well as within the community.
Before the trail run, participants engaged in a Zumba power exercise, which served as a warm-up for the event. This activity energized participants and helped maintain their momentum for the advocacy run.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Information Agency Region 12, led by Regional Director Fryan Abkilan, also showed strong support by having PIA personnel actively participate in the race.
