With deep sorrow, the City Health Office honors the life and legacy of former Mayor Atty. Eliordo U. Ogenaโa brilliant and visionary leader whose unwavering commitment to public health transformed our city.
Through his leadership, vital health institutions came to life: the Main District, GPS District, and Concepcion District Health Centersโbringing healthcare closer to the people and ensuring that every community had access to compassionate and quality medical services. His foresight led to the establishment of the Animal Bite Center, the fully functional City Epidemiologic Surveillance Unit, and the 24-hour Health Emergency Management Systemโcornerstones of a stronger and more responsive healthcare system.
More than infrastructure, his dedication was evident in strengthening the very foundation of healthcareโprioritizing plantilla positions, empowering health workers, and advancing sanitation services and medical missions. He was steadfast and fully supportive in all aspects of health-related programs and initiatives, always placing healthcare above all. Through these, he ensured that services are not only available but sustained by competent and committed professionals, reaching even the most underserved communities.
And most of all, we will never forget your courage and leadership in fighting for our people during the COVID-19 pandemic.
We carry his vision forward as we continue working toward the realization of a City Hospitalโa dream deeply rooted in his passion for accessible and inclusive healthcare for all.
These photos capture more than momentsโthey reflect milestones of a leader who placed the health and well-being of his people at the very heart of his service.
Maraming salamat po, Mayor Ogena. Your legacy lives on in every life touched, every patient cared for, and every system you helped build.
Though you may have left us, your compassion continues to heal, your vision continues to guide, and your legacy will forever live in the hearts of the people you so selflessly served. Your impact will forever be remembered by the people you served.
Rest in peace, Sir. ๐ซก
