𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦 | 𝗞𝗖𝗔𝗦𝗧 𝗟𝗜𝗥𝗖 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝟯𝗿𝗱 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗦𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘂𝗺

The KCAST Learning and Information Resource Center (LIRC), in line with the mission of Kapalong College of Agriculture Sciences and Technology (KCAST) to promote research and extension services, conducted the 2nd Haum nga Panukiduki, entitled “A Conversation on Copyright Infringement and Plagiarism: How to Avoid It as Researchers,” on August 27, 2026 at the Kapalong Municipal Gymnasium.

The four-hour symposium gathered third-year students from the College of Business Administration (CBA) and College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) during the morning session. In the afternoon, students from the College of Agriculture (CBA), College of Teacher Education (CTE), College of Public Administration (CPA), and College of Office Administration (COA) attended the session.

The activity aimed to strengthen and enhance students' research competencies by providing them with essential knowledge and practical guidance on responsible and ethical research practices.

The program began with a message from Dr. Mary Ann Ronith Libago, Director of Research and Development Office, who emphasized in her remarks the importance of integrity in conducting research. "As researchers we are not only expected to generate knowledge but also ensure that our works reflects honesty, accountability, and respect for the intellectual constitutions of others." She stated.

Meanwhile, in his inspirational message, Dr. Ronel G. Dagohoy, Vice President for Academic Affairs, highlighted the research competencies that students are expected to possess. Furthermore, Dr. Dagohoy pressed questions to the students if they are for learning or merely grades. “Education is not a piece of paper. Education is not a ceremony [...] it is about Learning,” he added.

The symposium was designed to provide students who are currently preparing for or undertaking their undergraduate thesis with practical knowledge on responsible and ethical research practice.

Resource Speaker Dr. Winda Balite Cejas discussed various topics, including ethical research practices, copyright awareness, plagiarism prevention, proper APA citation, and appropriate referencing of sources. Students were given the opportunity to ask questions and seek clarification in concern to ethical research.

Through the 2nd Haom nga Panukiduki, the KCAST LIRC reinforced the importance of equipping students with essential knowledge and skills to become ethical and responsible researchers.

NEW LIBRARY HOURS|

Welcome to AY 2026-2027, KCASTians! 🏁🎊
The Learning and Information Resource Center (LIRC) is thrilled to announce that starting July 6, 2026, the library will be open Monday to Sunday! This library hours adjustment was made to cater to students who have classes on weekends. Hence, the library facilities including the borrowing and returning of books and the use of the Audio-Visual Room will be available on the following schedule:

📌Monday-Thursday: 8:00 AM-9:00 PM
📌Friday-Sunday: 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
WITH NO NOON BREAK.

With this, we gladly encourage the KCAST community to visit the LIRC and spend time indulging yourselves with the newest facilities and resources of the Learning and Information Resource Center! The library is strategically located at the 2nd floor of the new library building beside the KCAST covered court.
