911 ‘Test Call’ Leads to Arrest of Stabbing Suspect in Quezon City
QUEZON CITY, August 7, 2025 — The Enhanced Emergency Hotline 911 system, implemented by the PNP under the leadership of PGEN NICOLAS TORRE III, was unexpectedly put to the test when a concerned citizen dialed 911, not to report a new crime, but to see if the hotline really worked. The call, however, prompted swift police action by the Holy Spirit Police Station 14, resulting in the arrest of the suspect, involved in a stabbing incident that occurred on August 4, 2025.
Based on the initial investigation conducted by PS14 under PLTCOL JEFRY GAMBOA, the incident occurred at around 12:09 PM inside a barbershop along Diego Silang St., Brgy. Pasong Tamo. The suspect, identified as alias “Eljimm,” 27 years old, residing at Brgy. Pasong Tamo had just finished getting a haircut, and approximately 30 minutes later, he returned and, with intent to kill, stabbed the 43-year-old barber before fleeing to an unknown location.
The victim sustained injuries and was rushed to Quezon City General Hospital for medical treatment. He later reported the incident to Police Station 14 on the same day.
Acting on the report, PS14 immediately coordinated with Barangay Pasong Tamo officials to gather leads and began forward and backtracking operations to locate the suspect.
Then, at around 8:30 AM on August 5, PS14 received a 911 call reporting an alleged stabbing incident. Upon immediate response, it was discovered that the caller was the victim’s wife, who admitted that she was merely testing the functionality of the emergency hotline and inquiring about the status of the case.
Fortunately, her call prompted continuous follow-up operations, which led to the arrest of the suspect, Eljimm, at around 1:57 PM on the same day the 911 call was made.
Upon verification through the Investigation Solution Automatic Verification (ISAV) system, it was revealed that the suspect had a prior criminal record for Murder in May 2022.
Case for Attempted Murder is now being prepared for filing before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
PCOL RANDY GLENN SILVIO, DDDA/OIC, QCPD, commended the swift action of PS14 and highlighted the vital role of community participation in solving crimes, stating, “This incident shows how timely reporting and quick response can lead to justice. Sa tulong ng publiko, mas napapabilis ang ating pagtugon, alinsunod sa direktiba ni CPNP, PGEN NICOLAS TORRE III, at ni RD, NCRPO, PMGEN ANTHONY ABERIN, sa ilalim ng SWIFT AND RESPONSIVE PUBLIC SERVICE at TRIPLE A PROGRAM.” # # #
