The DTI - Aklan Provincial Office successfully conducted the OTOP IMAC (Intensive Product Development Marketing Assistance and Capability Enhancement) activity under Project OTOP UBRA (One Town One Product: Uplifting Aklan Brands for Regional Advancement) on 28 August, at DTI Aklan Provincial Office, Kalibo, Aklan.

The activity brought together 15 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from across the province, providing them with valuable opportunities to enhance their products, strengthen their market competitiveness, and improve their costing and pricing strategies.

Guiding the participating MSMEs were three (3) esteemed designers and product development experts:
๐ŸŽจ Harold Sarabia (Owner, Harold & Harry)
๐ŸŽจ Sheree Reynaldo (Owner, Buttons 'n Things)
๐ŸŽจ Nina Candelario (Owner, Baligyaan / Nina Maria Arts and Crafts)

Through hands-on mentoring, design consultations, and market-oriented discussions, participants gained practical insights on product improvement, branding, packaging, and market access strategies that will help elevate their products to meet evolving consumer demands.

The OTOP IMAC initiative aims to empower local enterprises by equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to create higher-value products, expand market opportunities, and build more sustainable and resilient businesses. It is part of DTI's continuing efforts to champion local innovation and promote Aklan's unique products in regional and national markets.

Together, we are building stronger businesses, creating more opportunities, and showcasing the very best of Aklan to the world.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) - Aklan, through the Shared Service Facilities (SSF) Project and Negosyo Center New Washington, successfully conducted the Technology Transfer on Machine Operations of Raffia Looms for local raffia weaving communities in New Washington, Aklan.

Held on 17-21 August in Brgy. Lawa-an and 24-28 August in Brgy. Cawayan, the activity equipped participants with essential skills and knowledge in operating raffia loom machines to improve productivity, enhance product quality, and strengthen their weaving enterprises.

Under the expert guidance of the trainer, Ms. Lucilyn R. Bacsal, members of the Lawa-an Lady Weavers SLP Association and Cawayan Raffia Weavers actively participated during the hands-on learning sessions aimed at maximizing the benefits of technology in traditional raffia weaving.

This initiative was made possible through the strong collaboration of our partners: Local Government Unit of New Washington, DSWD - Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), Brgy. Lawa-an Council and Brgy. Cawayan Council

By combining technology transfer with community empowerment, the program supports the continuous growth of Aklan's raffia weaving industry, creating more opportunities for local artisans, strengthening livelihoods, and preserving a valued cultural craft for future generations.
