MAKARON | Project Monitoring in Action!

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) VI headed by Regional Director Juan Jovian E. Ingeniero, CESO III together with DILG-Aklan Provincial Director Dino A. Ponsaran visits DILG administered projects in Aklan and conferred with the Local Chief Executives.

The team inspected the two (2) significant projects in the Province of Aklan namely:

1.) FY 2023 India Quick Impact Project (I-QIP) “Construction of a Training Hall” with a Project Cost of P2.5 Million Pesos; and

2.) FY 2025 LGSF Financial Assistance to LGUs “Construction of a Child Development Center” with a Project Cost of P3 Million Pesos
This activity highlights the agency’s continued commitment to transparency, accountability, and the efficient implementation of programs on the ground.

Through this monitoring effort, DILG reaffirms its dedication to ensuring that development projects are carried out effectively delivering meaningful benefits such as improved learning spaces, enhanced capacity-building opportunities, and better support systems for children and the communities.

MAKARON | Airwaves for Good Governance: DILG Aklan Brings Public Services Closer Through Taeabuan it Kaaeam

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Aklan, through the Aklan Provincial Local Governance Resource Center, in partnership with Aklan State University DYMT 100.9 FM, successfully aired the fifth episode of Taeabuan it Kaaeam—bringing governance closer to the people.

Serving as Resource Speaker, LGOO V Jun Christian T. Guardialao delivered a comprehensive discussion on the processes for applying for projects to be implemented in local government units (LGUs) through the Ugnayang Bayan Portal. He also provided valuable insights on the Assistance to Indigent Individuals or Families – Food Assistance - Rice Distribution Project, highlighting its purpose and implementation for communities in need.

Meanwhile, LGOO V Cyna Marie A. Franco and LGOO II Frenz Joshua C. Lachica anchored the program, effectively guiding the discussion and engaging listeners throughout the broadcast.

FUTURE LAW ENFORCERS IN ACTION: THE CONDUCT OF CIVIL DISTURBANCE MANAGEMENT SEMINAR AND PRACTICAL DEMONSTRATION

MAKARON | DILG-Aklan Student Interns from Northwestern Visayan Colleges Krystell Jade T. Tudo, Leahna V. Cusay, and Almira Joy G. Pragoso facilitated the Civil Disturbance Management Seminar and Practical Demonstration as part of their Managing Learning Event (MLE) requirement for the Student Internship Program (SIP) of DILG-Aklan. The interns were under the guidance of the Criminal Justice Education Department of NVC during the activity proper.

LGOO VI Valerie S. Briones, Program Manager, DILG-Aklan, formally welcomed the participants, setting the tone for a productive and insightful seminar. Meanwhile, PCpl John Albert Nadura served as the morning lecturer, sharing valuable knowledge on Civil Disturbance Management, emphasizing proper procedures, discipline, and the importance of maintaining peace and order during public disturbances.

The participants were then immersed in the practical demonstration, where they were guided by Intern Instructors on proper stances, formations, and coordinated response techniques used in managing civil disturbance situations. This hands-on experience allowed the student interns to apply their theoretical knowledge in realistic scenarios, strengthening their readiness for future law enforcement responsibilities.

The seminar highlighted the importance of preparedness, teamwork, and professionalism — core values that every aspiring criminology professional must uphold in service to the community.

MAKARON | ANTI-ILLEGAL DRUGS OPERATION, INFORMATION, AND COMMUNITY AWARENESS, GENDER-SENSITIVTY TRAINING (GST), AND MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS FOR THE STUDENT INTERNS OF NUMANCIA, AKLAN

DILG-Aklan Student Interns Chloe Guillen G. Casamero, Edrian T. Fernandez, and Gemaika G. Arevalo facilitated the seminar on Anti-Illegal Drugs Operation, Information, and Community Awareness, Gender-Sensitivity Training (GST), and Mental Health Awareness as part of their Managing Learning Event (MLE) requirement for the Student Internship Program (SIP) with the supervision of MLGOO Jose Rommel B. Tocol of DILG-Numancia Field Office.

The activity was attended by criminology interns from the Philippine National Police (PNP) Numancia, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Numancia, and Local Government Unit (LGU) Numancia. The presence of participants from different sectors allowed for a more comprehensive exchange of ideas and perspectives, contributing to a more meaningful learning experience.

Municipal Mayor Rogelio M. Enero II, Numancia, Aklan welcomed the participants to the learning activity facilitated by the DILG-Aklan interns. Mayor Enero emphasized the importance of strong collaboration among agencies, community awareness, and the role of individuals in promoting peace, order, and good governance.

The activity served as an effective platform for learning and collaboration among participants and reinforced the importance of awareness, inclusivity, and community engagement in promoting safety and well-being.

MAKARON I DILG Aklan Honored for Meaningful Role in Jubilee Cross Pilgrimage

DILG Aklan was awarded a Plaque of Appreciation by the Diocese of Kalibo in grateful recognition of its meritorious participation in the Pilgrimage of the Jubilee Cross. The acknowledgment highlights the agency’s meaningful contribution to the three-year spiritual and organizational preparations for the Golden Jubilee of the Diocese of Kalibo, set to be celebrated on July 15, 2026, under the theme “Kita Simbahan, Kita Kaibahan.”

MAKARON | Driven to Deliver: DILG Aklan Advances Local Projects in Kalibo and Numancia

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Aklan, through its Project Development and Management Section (PDMS), recently carried out a series of field activities aimed at ensuring the quality and progress of locally funded projects across the province.

In the Municipality of Kalibo, the team conducted the final inspection of the FY 2024 Local Government Support Fund–Financial Assistance to Local Government Units (LGSF-FALGU) project, purchase of one (1) unit ambulance worth Php 2,500,000.00. The inspection marks a key step toward confirming that the project meets all required standards before full turnover and utilization.

The team then proceeded to the Municipality of Numancia to monitor the implementation of the FY 2023 Indian Quick Impact Project (I-QIP), specifically the “Construction of the Working/Training Hall” located in Barangay Aliputos, with a total project cost of Php 2,500,000.00.

Throughout the visits, the PDMS team closely coordinated with the respective Municipal Engineering Offices to assess project status, review timelines, and ensure compliance with technical and implementation standards. These efforts reflect DILG Aklan’s continued commitment to strengthening local governance through effective project monitoring and delivery.

MAKARON | Civic Program and Pagpadungog 2026 at the Malinao Multipurpose Activity Center

The Local Government Unit of Malinao, Aklan brought the community together for the Civic Program and Pagpadungog 2026, held at the Malinao Multipurpose Activity Center. The event celebrated the municipality’s milestones while honoring outstanding Malinaonons whose contributions have made a meaningful impact across various sectors.

Serving as Guest Speaker was Regional Director Juan Jovian E. Ingeniero, represented by LGOO VI Rene D. Ato, Chief of the Strategy and Results Management Unit (SRMU), who delivered an inspiring keynote message emphasizing continued collaboration and service excellence.

Municipal Mayor Josephine I. Iquiña warmly welcomed guests and led the ceremonial activities, setting a tone of pride and unity. She was joined by Vice Mayor Wilbert Ariel I. Igoy, Provincial Director Dino A. Ponsaran, MLGOO Racefin O. MAKARON I Building Better Communities: A Student Guide to Policy Making

Student interns from Aklan State University successfully conducted their learning event titled “PAtalks with DILG: Talk on Policy Making” as part of the JPSPA Annual Celebration, Pag-ueogyon Lingkod Bayan. With the theme “Strengthening Social Awareness among BPA Students toward Responsive and Accountable Public Service,” the activity was held at the ASU Banga Campus in Banga, Aklan.

LGOO II Frenz Joshua C. Lachica served as the resource speaker, delivering a comprehensive discussion on “The Science of Policy Making.” He emphasized the significance of policies in governance, highlighting their processes, development, and role in addressing societal issues and improving public service delivery. His insights provided students with a clearer understanding of how policies shape communities and influence decision-making in the public sector.

Following the lecture, LGOO II Lachica also participated as a panelist during the Policy Making Pre-Oral Presentation, offering constructive feedback and guidance to student presenters. He was joined by ISA I Jaylourd D. Ciervo, who served as the documenter for the event.

The activity was organized under the guidance of Mr. Loiue G. Garcia, JPSPA Program Chair-Adviser, and was actively participated in by Public Administration students of Aklan State University. The event not only strengthened students’ foundational knowledge of policy making but also encouraged critical thinking, civic engagement, and a deeper appreciation of their future roles as public servants.

Aklan’s ADAC Audit Fortifies the Frontline for a Drug-Free Future | April 28, 2026

The audit momentum continues as the Provincial Audit Committee (PAC) of the Province of Aklan successfully conducted the Table Assessment and Final Calibration for the Anti-Drug Abuse Council Performance Audit. The activity was held at DILG Aklan Provincial Office on April 28, 2026, which was participated by PAC members. The PAC is composed DILG Aklan Province and our partners from Aklan Police Provincial Office represented by PEMS MICHAEL PONTOY and PSSG DANZEL VILLORENTE, IA III Jyxyvzcky Escrupolo and IO I Chris Ann Alinsoring of PDEA Aklan, and CSOs represented by Dr. Ma. Jhoanna Guarin of Aklan Baghay and Mr. W***y Ramos of KASAMA Inc.

The ADAC Performance Audit is a rigorous evaluation designed to review critical data and performance of the Municipal ADACs while identifying high-impact, long-term strategies. It stands as a testament to the shared commitment of Local Government Units (LGUs) to adopt a more sustainable and strategic approach in the fight against illegal drugs.

Ultimately, the audit serves as a powerful catalyst for transformation, ensuring that LGUs adopt a more sustainable and strategic approach in the fight against illegal drugs.
