The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) โ€“ Aklan Provincial Office successfully conducted a DICT Services and PNPKI Orientation for local government officials and personnel of LGU Balete, attended by the Municipal Mayor, Department Heads, Sangguniang Bayan Members, and other LGU staff.

The orientation introduced the fundamentals of the Philippine National Public Key Infrastructure (PNPKI) and its role in enabling secure, reliable, and efficient digital transactions in government operations. Discussions highlighted the importance of digital certificates, electronic signatures, authentication, confidentiality, and data integrity in ensuring trusted digital communications and secure electronic processes.

The activity also emphasized the relevance of PNPKI in supporting digital governance initiatives and improving the efficiency of government services through secure and paperless transactions. Participants were introduced to the practical applications of PNPKI in document authentication, identity verification, and online security.

Cybersecurity awareness and responsible digital practices were likewise discussed to strengthen understanding on the importance of protecting government information and maintaining secure digital environments within the LGU.

The participants actively engaged during the orientation and expressed interest in the implementation of digital solutions and secure electronic services in local government operations.

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) โ€“ Aklan Provincial Office successfully conducted a 3-Day PNPKI, Cybersecurity, and AI Misuse Awareness Session for the Information Technology and Computer Science students of Garcia College of Technology.

The awareness session focused on basic cybersecurity practices, online safety, responsible use of Artificial Intelligence, and the Philippine National Public Key Infrastructure (PNPKI). Participants gained valuable knowledge on cyber threats, phishing attacks, data privacy, and AI misuse to strengthen their digital awareness and promote safer online practices.

Through this initiative, DICT continues to empower students and future ICT professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to become responsible, informed, and cyber-secure digital citizens.
