TLNHS: Rrrrrr-Resilient Responders & Rescuers!

April 21, 2026 | Kabayan, Benguet

What happens when you mix 10 brave TLNHS students, adrenaline, and a whole lot of heart? You get our team at the 5th Rescue Olympics!

Armed with skills from their 3-day crash course with the MDRRMO-Kabayan, our students jumped into action — rescuing, fire suppression, BLS, and first aid like pros. No capes, just competence and grit.

Guided by Ms. Shelanie Luciap, SDRRM Coordinator, and led by our school head Ms. Melin Abad, they showed up with excellence and hard work.

Did they bring home the championship trophy? Nope. Did they win? Absolutely. As Hon. Mayor Rex Alwin G. Aquisan said: "They are all winners." And he’s right - they bagged experience, skills, friendships, and stories they’ll be telling for years.

We’re beyond proud of our 10 TLNHS rescuers:
1. Yvonne Cabangdi
2. Heidi Laguitao
3. Narsie Atenao
4. Judy Ann Tagure
5. Angelyn Martin
6. Maxine Jane Olsim
7. Novina Waat
8. J***y Basatan Jr.
9. Winster Takinan
10. Christian Prille Carino

Big shoutout to MLGU-Kabayan headed by Hon. Mayor Rex Alwin G. Aquisan and MDRRMO led by Sir Patrick Budikey, Jr. - keep these events coming! You’re building a generation that’s ready, resilient, and Rrrreally amazing.

To the umpires and facilitators: Salamat for the patience and for being top-tier assessor on the field.

Frozen Dreams, Warm Hearts: A Tale of Triumph at TLNHS

On March 30, 2026, the icy winds of Tawangan-Lusod National High School carried not just the chill of the mountains but the warmth of achievement and pride as the school celebrated its 11th Graduation, 7th Moving Up, and 16th Recognition Ceremonies.

Like snowflakes that sparkle under the morning sun, each student shone brightly during the event that marked another milestone in the school’s journey. The celebration began with a Thanksgiving Service led by Pastor Jaguil Laoyan, a steadfast partner of the institution for SY 2025-2026. Gratitude filled the air, followed by the Recognition of Academic Achievers from Grades 7, 8, 9, and 11, and the acknowledgment of school stakeholders who stood as pillars of support throughout the year.

The highlight of the day was the Moving Up and Graduation Program, where 23 completers under Ms. Freda Alacdes and 12 graduates under Mr. Jomar Lesino were officially confirmed by Ma’am Elvernice S. Fanged, Educational Program Supervisor - DepEd CAR. With the magic of Frozen in the air, Ma’am Fanged shared an inspiring message that warmed every heart like the glow of Arendelle’s northern lights. She shaerd the beautiful acronym TLNHS, a reminder to let your heart guide you through every season of life:
T-ake time
L-ove
N-ever Give up
H-ave the heart in all you do
S-ay a prayer/ cling to God

Her words encouraged the completers and graduates to embrace the journey ahead - to face the unknown with courage, hope, and love.

Adding a magical touch to the event, Dr. Jetyline M. Sacpa, Doctor of Dental Medicine and proud TLNHS alumna, delivered an inspiring message filled with wisdom and heart. She also shared an icy-brilliant acronym DENTISTS-
D-etermination
E-njoyment
N-ever Compare
T-Timeless
I- Inspiration
S-Support
T-Thankful
S-acrifice
- a frozen yet fiery reminder for every graduate to embrace their next journey with courage and purpose.

The ceremony was graced by Hon. Rex Alwin Aquisan, Municipal Mayor of Kabayan; Hon. Stanley Nayosan and Hon. Tito Himbadan, representing the barangays of Lusod and Tawangan; and Mr. Cresaldo Lomesio, PTA President - all of whom shared heartfelt messages that melted hearts and inspired minds.

With gratitude as deep as winter’s snow, Ma’am Melin W. Abad, School Head, expressed her appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of the event through their donations, messages, presence and prayers.

As the curtains closed and the snowflakes of celebration settled, one message echoed through the halls of TLNHS - “Let your dreams sparkle like ice, but let your hearts stay warm with kindness and hope.”

Congratulations to all graduates and completers! ❄️
May your next chapter be as magical as a frozen wonderland - full of courage, brilliance, and endless possibilities.

Our Brigada Eskwela Plus culmination wasn't just a workday; it was a masterclass in the Bayanihan spirit! On March 20, our stakeholders, from children to senior citizen who showed up and showed out as we officially wrapped up our Brigada Eskwela Plus for SY 2025-2026.

From our youngest learners to our wisest senior citizens, the Bayanihan spirit was on display as we have a plan but they had a better plan.
Not only did we finish our "to-do" list, including repairing waterworks and washing areas, cleared clutter, fixed materials, Installation of temporary posts and tents; and prepping the site for our future Tawid Center, but our amazing volunteers also took the initiative to go the extra mile.

Here’s what we achieved together:
1. The actual start of the Tawid Center construction; 2. Weeded our learning parks;
3. Our TLNHS Arch got a vibrant new coat of paints;
4. Clogged canals are now a thing of the past.

If you took a look at our 'To-Do' list at the start of the day, you might have thought we were overly ambitious. But never underestimate a community with a shared goal. We went from 'site preparation' to actual construction in the blink of an eye. Why? Because the Bayanihan spirit doesn't know how to do just the minimum. We’re heading into the end of the school year with a whole lot of school pride.

At the end of the day, Brigada Eskwela Plus is about more than just fresh paint and fixed faucets. It’s a reminder that TLNHS isn’t just a collection of buildings—it’s a community. Seeing a grandfather teaching a student how to properly tie the rope or community members coming together to haul materials for the Tawid Center proves that when we share a vision, the heavy lifting becomes light. We didn’t just repair a school today; we reinforced the foundation of our students' future.

To every stakeholder who showed up, a massive THANK YOU for you picked up a paintbrush, hammer, digging bar and other materials. The school administration would like also to express their gratitue to those who provided bamboo & construction materials, vehicles for the heavy lifting and hauling that kept us moving at lightning speed and, tools & resources for ensuring no task was too tough to tackle.

Your initiative and support are what makes TLNHS a better home for our students and truly, you are the HEARTBEAT of TLNHS!

TLNHS UNLEASHED: WHERE CAREER, FAMILY AND FUN COLLIDE!

It was an action-packed day at TLNHS, with four major events that showcased the school's spirit and talent! Under the leadership of School Head Ms. Melin Abad, the students, parents, and guests were treated to a Career Program, Family Day, Festival of Talents, and a culmination of Special School Programs.

The day kicked off with a warm welcome from Sir Jomar Lesino, OIC, who took the opportunity to share the school's accomplishments, including their innovative projects like Project S.H.I.E.L.D., SPORTS TAYO, and PANAGNEMNEMNEM.

Afterwards, Tawangan ARCMPC's BOD Chairperson, Mr. Marcos Luciap, presented the certificate of appreciation and tokens to all Grade 12 learners and a Grade 10 learner, and even donated a printer to the school as a token of appreciation for the partnership.

The spotlight then shifted to the Grade 7-12 learners, who stole the show with a high-energy fashion show that showcased their career aspirations. From stylish suits to creative costumes, the students exuded confidence and creativity on the runway, leaving the audience cheering for more! It was an impressive display of talent and resourcefulness, and everyone was beaming with pride.

Next up was Ms. Jamaica Bayan, the Guidance Associate, who shared valuable insights and tips on navigating career paths. Her engaging career talks had the students hooked, and it was clear that they were eager to learn more about their future prospects. The Festival of Talents that followed was a true celebration of the students' skills and passions, with each grade level presenting their unique talents and leaving the crowd in awe.

The fun continued with Family Day, which brought together students, parents, and teachers for a day of games, dances, and quality bonding time. But the highlight of the day was undoubtedly the delicious food fest, where families shared a sc****ly of dishes and enjoyed a hearty meal together. It was a heartwarming display of community spirit and camaraderie.

The day's events concluded with the awarding of certificates to deserving learners, recognizing their hard work and achievements. A huge shoutout to SSLG President Mr. John Dave Tagure and the entire team for making this day possible!

As Mr. Lesino said, "Tayo ay pinagpala sa araw na ito," and indeed, everyone who attended the activities are "pinagpala" for they witnessed and experienced action-packed activities in a day. We hope that today's experiences will inspire our students to chase their passions and make their dreams come true!

Celebrating Intellectual Growth: 2026 School Mini-Research Congress
The halls of Tawangan-Lusod National High School were alive with the spirit of inquiry and academic excellence as we successfully concluded our School Mini-Research Congress! This vibrant platform allowed our Grade 11 and Grade 12 learners to showcase their dedication to evidence-based learning and critical thinking.

By identifying local challenges and proposing innovative, community-centered solutions, our student-researchers proved that age is no barrier to expanding our collective body of knowledge.

The success of this congress rests on the rigorous evaluation and mentorship provided by our esteemed panel. We extend our deepest gratitude to: Ms. Racquel T. Masing, ADAS II;
Ms. Joan G. Pedro, T-VI, Mr. Jomar G. Lesino, T-III (Program Coordinator/Class Adviser)

Your expertise has not only challenged our students to excel but has also inspired them to view research as a lifelong tool for service and professional growth.

We also thank the school administration, faculty, and staff, under the dedicated leadership of Ms. Melin W. Abad, as well as our supportive parents. Your belief in the power of academic research ensures that our learners are "Empowered and Employable," ready for the rigors of higher education, entrepreneurship, or the workforce. This is in consonant with one of the programs under Agenda 5: Prepping graduates for employment, entrepreneurship or Higher Education evident in AIP as Empowered and Employable Filipinos as the key outcome, particularly number 5 of School Program/Project: School Mini-Research Congress

To our student-researchers, Congratulations! May your curiosity continue to lead you toward new discoveries that uplift our institution and community.

Girl Scouts Discover Adventure, Culture, and Advocacy in Subic

On March 7–8, 2026, three senior Girl Scouts and a troop leader from Tawangan-Lusod National High School (TLNHS) joined the Regional Adventure Camp at Zoobic Forest Adventure Park, Subic Bay Freeport Zone, Subic, Zambales. The event was hosted by the Girl Scouts of the Philippines –Northern Luzon Region and proved to be more than just a camp—it was a journey of discovery, culture, and responsibility.

The two-day camp featured an educational tour at Zoobic Safari and Ocean Adventure Theme Park. Scouts came face-to-face with fascinating animals, learning about their unique abilities and the urgent need to protect them. The experience sparked a deeper appreciation for wildlife but it also came with a challenge: to become defenders of these creatures and advocates for their protection.
The camp brought the scouts face-to-face with the rich traditions of the Aeta brothers, who performed dances like Sayaw ng Tutubi, Sayaw ng Pagbabayani, and Sayaw ng Sikuting. The evening lit up with a breathtaking fire dance, blending artistry and heritage in a way that left the scouts in awe.

Another highlight was the jungle survival demonstration—building fire and cooking with bamboo —reminding the scouts of the importance of resilience and resourcefulness.

Beyond adventure, the camp also tackled pressing social issues. Discussions on Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) and Anti-Bullying emphasized kindness, respect, and the importance of standing up for others.

The adventure ignited a stronger passion among the scouts to protect wildlife, marine life, and the environment.

They extend heartfelt thanks to: Hon. Rex Alwin G. Aquisan and the LGU Kabayan for transportation support; Tawangan-Lusod National High School led by Melin W. Abad, PhD, for allowing them to participate to this scouting activity and for ferrying them from the school to the municipal grounds; to the parents for allowing and supporting these learners on this endeavor; and to the generous individuals who provided financial assistance.
