The team facilitated the Orientation, Eligibility Assessment, and Profiling of program beneficiaries, ensuring that qualified individuals and families are properly guided and documented for livelihood support.

The activity was accommodated by the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), with staff providing assistance and coordination throughout the process. As part of their visit, the DSWD-CAR personnel also paid a courtesy call to Mayor Rex Guzman Aquisan, who warmly welcomed the team and expressed appreciation for their efforts to extend livelihood opportunities to Kabayan constituents.

The visit highlights the continuing partnership between the LGU and DSWD-CAR in promoting sustainable community development and empowering residents through accessible livelihood programs.

On July 24, 2026, students from the College of Forestry, Benguet State University (BSU) paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Rex Guzman Aquisan to formally present their ongoing thesis study entitled β€œEffects of Forest Fire in Landslide Susceptibility Using Logistic Regression Modeling in Kabayan, Benguet.”

The group extended their request for assistance in gathering municipal records on forest fire and landslide occurrences, including the extent of damages from 1990 to 2025. Their study aims to provide scientific insights into environmental hazards affecting Kabayan, particularly the relationship between forest fires and landslide susceptibility.

Mayor Aquisan personally welcomed the students and expressed support for their academic endeavor, emphasizing the importance of research in guiding local disaster preparedness and environmental management. He also acknowledged the relevance of the study to Kabayan’s ongoing efforts in strengthening resilience against natural hazards.

The students’ request for the conduct of study was formally endorsed to the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) for appropriate assistance. 𝐏𝐔𝐋𝐀𝐆 𝐏𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐒 π’π“π”πƒπ˜ | On July 8, 2026, representatives of the Watershed and Water Resources Research, Development, and Extension Center (WWRRDEC) tapped by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) paid a courtesy visit to the Office of Municipal Mayor Rex Alwin G. Aquisan as part of their upcoming research on the Mt. Pulag Protected Landscape (MPPL) peatlands.

The delegation was formally accommodated by Ms. Jasmin T. Berting, Private Secretary I, who welcomed the team on behalf of the Mayor. The visit underscored the growing importance of peatland ecosystems in Mt. Pulag, recognized for their role in biodiversity conservation, water regulation, and climate resilience.

The delegation was formally received by Mayor Rex Guzman Aquisan. The validation activity was carried out in coordination with Engr. Charlyn C. Kamora and Engr. Marsan A. Caliag.

Buguias, Benguet β€” The Alternative Learning System (ALS) – Schools Division of Benguet successfully held its Graduation and Moving Up Ceremonies on June 30, 2026, at the Benguet State University (BSU) Gym, Loo, Buguias, bringing together graduates from ALS centers in Buguias, Kabayan, and Mankayan.

Representing Kabayan Mayor Rex Alwin G. Aquisan was Ms. Jasmin T. Berting, Private Secretary I, who delivered the Mayor’s inspirational message. She highlighted the graduation theme, β€œFilipino Graduates: Prepared to lead with competence, and character,” and posed a challenge to the Class of 2026: β€œBe competent in what you do, be a person of character in how you do it, and always choose honesty over shortcuts and service over self.”

The ceremony was graced by the faculty of the Department of Education–Kabayan District led by PSDS Roberto A. Pablo, Jr.

Meanwhile, a keynote address was delivered by Dr. Nicolas T. Capulong, CESO III, Regional Director of DepEd–CAR, who emphasized the transformative role of ALS in providing inclusive education opportunities across the Cordillera.

For School Year 2025–2026, Kabayan proudly presented four ALS graduates, joining their peers from Buguias and Mankayan in celebrating this milestone.

The event underscored the continuing commitment of DepEd and local government units to empower learners through alternative pathways, ensuring that education remains accessible and meaningful for all.
