Through the B-CARES Program, hundreds of people in the region are able to access services such as assistance with hospitalization expenses, medicines, and medical treatments and procedures, including laboratory tests, CT scans, dialysis, MRIs, antiretroviral therapy, and chemotherapy, for identified and validated poor and eligible beneficiaries.
One of them is Armia Abdulhamid from Barangay Meta in Datu Unsay, Maguindanao del Sur. She and her husband are both farmers. One of her children, Fahad Abdulhamid, 14, underwent a rigorous medication for a year due to bone tuberculosis. Due to poverty and a lack of sufficient income, the family could not afford to provide their beloved son with the necessary medication. If it weren't for MSSD's B-CARES program, they would have had a difficult time providing the necessary medical attention for their sick son.
The family is grateful for the assistance from the Municipal Office of MSSD and the BARMM government.
In both Maguindanao del Norte and Maguindanao Del Sur under the B-CARES’ medicine assistance, about 2,880 clients were accommodated which total to an amount of P16,068,372. While, 1,135 patients were assisted for their hospital bills, medical assistance, and even burial assistance with P8,037,497 in total.
Meanwhile, according to MSSD Minister Atty. Raissa Jajurie, this initiative aims to support individuals and families in the region who are experiencing crises, as part of the advocacy of BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim.
As of November 2024, MSSD has already partnered with the following 13 hospitals inside and outside of the region under its B-CARES program.
