The Office of the Municipal Mayor of Josefina, Zamboanga del Sur issues this statement to clarify and correct misleading information circulating online regarding Mayor Alberto “Dodong” Etulle.
Following the incident on November 1, 2025, the Office of the City Prosecutor of Iligan has formally DISMISSED the complaint for Violation of Article 155 of the Revised Penal Code for lack of sufficient evidence.
As stated in the official Resolution promulgated on November 3, 2025, the investigation established that Mayor Etulle VOLUNTARILY SURRENDERED himself and his licensed firearm to the responding officers. The findings further confirmed that he acted in defense of his wife and family, who were endangered by two unidentified men engaged in a violent altercation, one of whom was armed with a chain and a knife.
The Resolution emphasized that Mayor Etulle’s firearm was lawfully owned and registered, and that there was no unlawful intent or malicious conduct. Accordingly, the Prosecutor’s Office concluded that there was no prima facie evidence to sustain the charge, leading to the complete dismissal of the case.
We reiterate that Mayor Etulle is a law-abiding public official who respects due process and the rule of law. The voluntary and transparent manner by which he cooperated with authorities underscores his commitment to integrity and accountability in public service.
We urge the public and media outlets to refrain from spreading unverified or sensationalized reports, and to respect the findings of the Department of Justice. Responsible reporting is essential in upholding truth and protecting individuals from undue harm to their reputation.
Mayor Etulle continues to serve as the duly elected Mayor of the Municipality of Josefina and remains steadfast in his mission to lead with transparency, compassion, and dedication to the people.
