The graduation ceremony marked the culmination of the six-day capability-building activity aimed at strengthening the emergency response and first aid competencies of participating personnel.

Highlighting the program was the inspirational message delivered by Roger P. Deloy, ENP, Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator, who emphasized the importance of preparedness, commitment to public service, and the vital role of trained responders in ensuring community safety and resilience.

The ceremony also recognized the top performers of the training for their exemplary performance and dedication throughout the course.

Jose Abad Santos, Davao del Sur Mayor Mayor Jason John Joyce on Friday, May 29, appealed for public support as search and rescue operations continue for five persons reported missing following a sea mishap.

In a social media post, Joyce called on local communities and volunteers to cooperate in the ongoing search efforts. He urged those willing to participate to coordinate with the Philippine Coast Guard in Malabinuang and nearby islands for proper guidance on designated search areas.

โ€œMagtinabangay ta nga ma-rescue ang mga missing sa dagat. Kung naay mag-volunteer mu-apil sa Search and Rescue, coordinate mo sa Coast Guard nato sa Malabinuang ug sa isla aron ma-guide mo asa angay mag-search,โ€ he said.

The mayor also noted that several individuals have offered fuel assistance to help sustain the ongoing operations.

Initial reports said the missing individuals were onboard the motor banca MBCA Quessel J, which departed from Barangay Bukid at around 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

According to the Philippine Coast Guard, the vessel was last seen in the vicinity waters off Olanivan Islet in Sarangani, Davao Occidental.

โ€œThe said motor banca was carrying a total of five persons on board,โ€ the PCG said.

On May 25, 2026, the Municipality of Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental officially turned over the newly constructed Level II Water System to the beneficiaries of Brgy. Cayaponga following a successful joint inspection conducted by the Local Project Monitoring Committee (LPMC) and partner stakeholders.

This project reflects the municipalityโ€™s commitment to improving access to safe, reliable, and sustainable water services for the community. The successful completion and turnover of the water system mark an important achievement in enhancing the quality of life and supporting the long-term development of Brgy. Cayaponga.
