This morning, the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) of Janiuay and BLGU Carigangan attended the Iloilo Provincial Government's flag-raising ceremony to receive a significant recognition.

Barangay Carigangan was conferred a prestigious Certificate of Recognition from the DSWD's KALAHI CIDSS program for its exemplary performance as a TATAK KALAHI CIDSS LGU AWARD NATIONAL NOMINEE (previously awarded last November 19 in Cebu City).

This acknowledgment celebrates the successful implementation and sustained operation of the Carigangan Bridge, a vital project that has served the community and maintained a lasting positive impact for over 19 years and 10 months.

Congratulations to Punong Barangay Romel Apistar, the Barangay Officials of Carigangan, and MSWDO Ma'am Beth Sevilla for accepting this well-deserved award!

The Carigangan Construction of RCDG Bridge has been officially selected as one of the 16 National Nominees for the prestigious 2025 Tatak KALAHI-CIDSS LGU Awards!

The Tatak KALAHI-CIDSS LGU Awards honor communities whose projects demonstrate sustainability, strong community participation, and long-term positive impact.

The nomination of the Carigangan RCDG Bridge highlights its outstanding success: Built in 2004 with a cost of P1,604,061, the bridge has continued to provide reliable benefits to the community for more than eight years.

This lasting impact reflects the solid partnership within the community and the transparent, committed leadership of the Local Government Unit. The Carigangan Bridge stands as proof that progress built through unity truly lasts.

September 17, 2025 — DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian visited Janiuay, Iloilo to inspect the KALAHI-CIDSS sub-projects, particularly the Calmay-Kuyot Bridge, completed in 2019, and the Carigangan Bridge, completed in 2004. The visit served as an opportunity to witness firsthand how community-driven initiatives transform the everyday lives of the people. These bridges have provided safer access, strengthened connectivity between barangays, and opened greater opportunities for livelihood, education, and community development.

Today, September 16, 2025, officials from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) visited Janiuay to prepare for the upcoming visit of Secretary Rex T. Gatchalian.

The team was led by Ms. Katherine Joy Lamprea, Assistant Regional Director for Operations of DSWD FO VI, and Atty. Bernadette A. Mapue-Joaquin from the DSWD National Program Management Office, together with national and regional staff. They were warmly welcomed by Acting Municipal Mayor Atty. Felizardo D. Amigable Jr., Municipal Administrator Sir Augusto Borra, and SB Members Hon. Glofil Joy Arnao Nobleza-Capadosa and Hon. Jaime Bermejo Jr., on behalf of Mayor Paulino “Paul” Parian.

Assistance during site visits to selected DSWD KALAHI sub-projects was provided by the KALAHI-CIDSS MCT, MSWDO Beth Sevilla, and Municipal Engineer Engr. Evangeline Salarda. The LGU expresses its gratitude for DSWD’s continued partnership in delivering meaningful services to the community.

Empowering Communities: Successful Completion of Operation & Maintenance Training for Community Volunteers

The Operation and Maintenance Training Workshop for Community Volunteers was successfully held at the Municipal Liga Hall in Janiuay, Iloilo on May 03-04, 2024. Volunteers gained essential skills in infrastructure maintenance, resource management, and sustainable practices, equipping them to better serve and uplift their communities.

Congratulations to the community volunteers of the recently concluded training program, 1st Municipal Fiduciary Review for PHASE 2, held at Municipal Liga Hall, Janiuay, Iloilo on May 30-31, 2024.

Fourteen (14) Brgy. Treasurers, Bookkeepers and BDC-TWG from the different Barangays of Janiuay with sub-projects in KALAHI CIDSS NCDDP-AF PHASE 2 finished the training workshop. Area Coordinating Team (ACT) Municipal Financial Analysts Ma'am Babyjoy Roncesvalles and Ma'am Conception Casama served as the subject-matter resource speakers for the 2-day training event.
