LOOK || Wanted High-Ranking CTG Leader, One Other NPA Neutralized in Leon Encounters
The Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) in Iloilo has suffered another major setback following the deaths of its high-ranking leader and a member in two consecutive encounters with the troops of the Armyโs 61st Infantry Battalion in Leon, Iloilo, on May 2, 2024.
The first encounter occurred while the troops were conducting combat operations in response to the reported presence of more or less 20 CPP-NPA Terrorists (C**s) at the boundary of Barangays Bucari and Cawilihan, both in Leon, Iloilo, at around 7:30 in the morning. It was followed by another encounter at about 09:50 in the same area between the blocking force of the 61IB and approximately 10 C**s belonging to a similar group.
These C**s were believed to be a combination of members from the Regional Sentro de Gravidad (RSDG) and remnants of the dismantled Southern Panay Front (SPF), Komiteng Rehiyon โ Panay.
Yielded from the two clashes were the bodies of two communist terrorists identified as Nahum Camariosa alias Rodel/Bebong, Squad Leader of SPF, and a resident of Barangay Manampunay, Leon, and alias JunJun/Cedrick, a member of RSDG from Barangay Bad-as, San Joaquin, Iloilo. Also seized from the encounter site were various war materials, including three M16 rifles, an M14 rifle, an AK-47 rifle, and an anti-personnel mine.
Camariosa is among the top wanted CTG leaders in Western Visayas for a string of criminal cases, including multiple murder, frustrated murder, robbery in band with frustrated homicide and damage to property, and robbery with serious physical injuries. He has a bounty of P 150,000.00 on his head.
Camariosa is also involved in this yearโs encounters, particularly in San Joaquin, last February 28, which resulted in the death of his daughter Rena Rhea and three of his comrades, and in a series of clashes in Miagao, Iloilo, on March 4.
The leadership of the Armyโs 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division lauded the troops of the 61IB and the local populace for their collaborative efforts that resulted in the neutralization of Camariosa and his comrade and the capture of high-powered fi****ms.
โThe residentsโ cooperation significantly bolstered our troopsโ capability to track the movement and location of the C**s with precision. Their unwavering vigilance underscores their deep awareness of the crucial role they play in establishing a Stable Internal Peace and Security (SIPS) in Panay Island and across the Western and Central Visayas. With this magnitude of support we have earned from the Ilonggos, we are optimistic that we can dismantle the remaining Guerilla Front of the CTG in Panay, particularly the Central Front, paving the way to declare this island a SIPS zone,โ said 3ID Commander Major General Marion R Sison.
Moreover, MGen. Sison reiterated his persistent call to the remaining NPA terrorists to choose peace, return to the folds of the law, and avail the governmentโs reintegration program.
