Tagbilaran City, Bohol β€” The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Bohol intends to inform the general public that in the pursuit of its mandate, the Department conducts various performance assessments on local governance and confers awards and incentives to performing Local Government Units (LGUs) that have exhibited exemplary performance in these performance audits. The following are the DILG-managed assessments, awards and incentives:

β€’ Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG)
β€’ Good Financial Housekeeping
β€’ Anti-Drug Abuse Council Functionality
β€’ Peace and Order Council Functionality
β€’ Local Legislative Award (LLA)
β€’ Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance
β€’ Local Council for the Protection of Children Functionality
β€’ Local Council on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Children Functionality
β€’ Subaybayani Award
β€’ Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangays
β€’ Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Award

Other than these, this level makes it clear that the Department is not associated with any of the awards proliferating on social media and categorically denies any involvement in such activities.

While this level acknowledges that other government agencies and private organizations and institutions are not prevented from giving due recognition to deserving local government units and elected local officials, the general public and most especially our local officials are strongly advised to be most prudent in giving acknowledgement and credence to award-giving bodies.

As guideposts, one may take foremost consideration to the track record of these institutions, the criteria they use, the methodologies they employ, and the mandates and objectives of the organizations, as well as their members.

We understand that there is an apparent clamor to gatekeep the giving of awards and recognition in local governance. Absent such mechanism as of the moment, however, we urge everyone to exercise due diligence and critical thinking not only in verifying the legitimacy of such awards and recognition but also in joining, accepting and promoting such.

Finally, we inform the public that this matter has been formally referred to higher levels of the Department for policy consideration and appropriate guidance.

Jagna MPOC Convened: Peace and Order Situation "Generally Peaceful" in Year-End Assessment

JAGNA, BOHOL – The Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC) of Jagna convened for its final quarterly meeting of the year on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, declaring the town’s overall situation as "manageable and generally peaceful."

The session, presided over by Vice Mayor Hon. Derrick Virtudazo, brought together key heads of local uniformed services and municipal departments to assess the safety, security, and social welfare landscape of the municipality as 2025 draws to a close.

Uniformed Services Deliver Detailed Reports

The meeting highlighted detailed year-end operational reports from the town’s primary safety agencies. Representatives from the Philippine National Police (PNP) presented their crime statistics and operational accomplishments for the year, noting a sustained focus on crime prevention and community engagement.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) followed with a report on fire safety inspections, emergency responses, and fire prevention activities conducted throughout 2025. Meanwhile, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) provided updates on maritime safety, coastal security, and the monitoring of vessels in Jagna’s busy port area.

Traffic and Social Welfare Updates

Beyond security, the council addressed the town's day-to-day orderliness and social health. The Jagna Traffic Management Unit (JTMU) laid out its comprehensive traffic management strategies. Their report emphasized efforts to streamline the flow of vehicles in the town center and manage congestion during peak hours and upcoming holiday festivities.

On the social services front, the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) reported on the year-end status of their service delivery. The presentation covered the reach of their assistance programs, including aid for vulnerable sectors and ongoing welfare initiatives that contribute to the town's social stability.

A Positive Outlook for 2026

The consensus among the council members was positive. Following the comprehensive presentations, Vice Mayor Virtudazo and the body concluded that Jagna maintains a stable environment. The assessment of the peace and order situation as "manageable and generally peaceful" sets a confident tone for the municipality as it prepares for the upcoming holiday season and the start of the new year.
