FREE AND PRIOR INFORMED CONSENT
Today, 27 January 2022, the NCIP 8th Commission approved the issuance of a Certification Precondition to the J3S Hydro Power Corporation for the proposed 5.0 Megawatt Kennon Hydroelectric Power Project in Tuba Ancestral Domain, Benguet Province. J3S is a corporation fully owned by Cordillerans, and is the second locally owned company to be issued a CP to operate a hydroelectric project in Benguet. The Indigenous Peoples of Tuba AD are set to receive, within a 25 year period, about an annual average of One Million Pesos in royalty, and identified projects worth at least One Million Four Hundred Ten Thousand Four Hundred Pesos a year ----------- totaling to about 2,410,400.00 annually, which corresponds to 12.052 centavos per kwh per year.
