DURING AN EARTHQUAKE
DROP, COVER, AND HOLD ON
β’ Stay away from windows, glass, shelves, and heavy objects
β’ Do NOT run outside while shaking is ongoing
β’ If outdoors, move to an open and safe area
β’ If driving, pull over safely and stop
TSUNAMI SAFETY REMINDERS
β’ If strong or prolonged shaking is felt in coastal areas, move to higher ground immediately
β’ Stay away from shorelines, beaches, rivers, and estuaries
β’ Do not wait for visual confirmation of a tsunami if natural warning signs are present
β’ Follow evacuation instructions from local authorities
AFTER THE EVENT
β’ Expect aftershocks and remain alert
β’ Check yourself and others for injuries
β’ Inspect surroundings for hazards (damaged structures, wires, gas leaks)
β’ Keep emergency kits ready
β’ Only trust official updates and advisories
