𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐆𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐎𝐆𝐄𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑: 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐨 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚m 2026

Under the leadership of the College President, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐇𝐣𝐚. 𝐇𝐚𝐢𝐩𝐚 𝐀𝐛𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐡𝐢𝐦-𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧, the Gender and Development (GAD) Office successfully conducted the 𝐒tronger 𝐓ogether: 𝐒olo 𝐏arents 𝐄mpowerment 𝐏rogram 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 at 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐲 𝐓𝐚𝐛𝐮𝐤, 𝐈𝐬𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐚 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐧.

The activity brought together solo parents for a meaningful and empowering learning experience through the valuable insights shared by our invited guest speakers: 𝐌𝐫. 𝐑𝐲𝐚𝐧 𝐁. 𝐍𝐚𝐛𝐢, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐇𝐞𝐢𝐝𝐢 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐆. 𝐂𝐫𝐮𝐳, and 𝐃𝐫. 𝐉𝐚𝐲𝐥𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐂. 𝐒𝐚𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐚. Their inspiring discussions highlighted the importance of resilience, self-empowerment, mental wellness, and community support for solo parents.

We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Local Government Unit of Barangay Tabuk headed by 𝐇𝐨𝐧. 𝐇𝐣𝐚. 𝐄𝐲𝐚𝐦 𝐀𝐣𝐢𝐛𝐨𝐧 for the warm welcome and unwavering support which greatly contributed to the success of this meaningful initiative.

Indeed, this activity became a testament that when communities unite in support and understanding, solo parents are empowered to thrive, grow, and succeed.

𝑴𝒂𝒚 𝟳, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 | 𝒁𝒐𝒐𝒎 𝑽𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒐 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒇𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒊𝒏𝒈

Basilan State College (BaSC), under the leadership of Dr. Haipa Abdurahim-Salain, actively participated in the Launching of Project PAG-IBIG (Parents Access to Growth through Inclusive, Balanced, and Innovative Guidance) Family Empowerment Center spearheaded by Romblon State University (RSU) in partnership with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) through the Office of the Commissioner.

The activity gathered 227 participants from different State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) throughout the Philippines, reflecting a unified commitment among higher education institutions in promoting family empowerment, inclusive guidance, and innovative support systems for Filipino families and communities.

BaSC’s participation in this meaningful initiative highlights the institution’s continuing support for programs and partnerships that strengthen family welfare, community engagement, and inclusive development within the higher education sector.

We are proud to announce 𝙅𝙤𝙝𝙣𝙢𝙖𝙧 𝙎. 𝙃𝙖𝙨𝙖𝙣 from the College of Teacher Education (CTE) as the 1st Place winner of the Digital Poster-Making Contest for National Women’s Month 2026 at Basilan State College!

His winning poster, titled “𝘉𝘢𝘣𝘢𝘺𝘭𝘢𝘯 𝘚𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘪𝘵: 𝘈𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵 𝘈𝘭𝘭 𝘞𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘴, 𝘛𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘞𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘦,” beautifully captures the strength, wisdom, and leadership of women—drawing inspiration from the Babaylans of the Philippines, revered spiritual leaders and healers in pre-colonial society.

The design incorporates meaningful elements:
• Scale element – representing fairness and equality between genders
• Female gender symbol – highlighting women’s empowerment and their vital role in society
• Tennun textile – reflecting the rich culture and identity of the Yakan people of Basilan
• Waves – symbolizing the Basileños way of life and their strong connection to the sea
• Purple tones – representing dignity, justice, and empowerment for women
