Charlie 1FAB Joins 2025 Arbor Day: Planting for a Greener Tomorrow. ,
Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay | June 29, 2025 — In a strong show of environmental commitment, Charlie Battery, 1st Field Artillery (Beat 'Em) Battalion, partnered with the Office of the Provincial Governor and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in celebration of Arbor Day 2025.

A total of 15,000 Narra trees were planted in Mount Gampoy, Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay. The activity was a multi-agency collaboration involving local government offices and uniformed services working hand-in-hand to restore forests and promote environmental sustainability.

Governor Ann K. Hofer emphasized, “We plant trees today and grow forests tomorrow,” calling on everyone to not only plant but also nurture trees to thrive in today’s changing climate.

Together, we grow a cleaner, greener, and healthier future.

Charlie Battery, 1FAB, Concludes Disaster Rescue and Combat Life Saver Training

Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay Province – Charlie Battery, 1st Field Artillery Battalion (1FAB), Army Artillery Regiment, Philippine Army, led by 1LT KIM ARNOR A SAPUAY (ART) PA, successfully completed a Disaster Rescue Operations and Combat Life Saver (CLS) Training from 15 to 29 May 2025 at Headquarters Charlie Battery, Brgy. Sanito, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay Province.

The training aimed to strengthen the unit’s disaster response and life-saving capabilities in both civilian and tactical settings. Participants were trained in victim extraction, water rescue, casualty evacuation, bleeding control, airway management, and tactical casualty care.

LTC ROJEL P OMICTIN ART (GSC) PA, 1FAB Commanding Officer, served as the keynote speaker during the closing ceremony. He emphasized the importance of training in saving lives under pressure and fostering mission readiness.

This initiative reflects Charlie Battery’s dedication to operational readiness and its service to both the community and the country.

Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay – Charlie Battery, First Field Artillery Battalion (1FAB), Army Artillery Regiment, Philippine Army, under the leadership of 1LT KIM ARNOR A SAPUAY (ART) PA, Battery Commander, was formally recognized on April 28, 2025, for its exemplary contribution to the Army-Wide Blood Letting Activity held in line with the 128th Philippine Army Founding Anniversary.

During the activity, conducted on March 8, 2025, Charlie Battery donated a total of 19 bags of blood—the highest number of donations among all participating batteries under 1FAB. In recognition of this outstanding effort, the unit was awarded a Plaque of Appreciation during the Salute to the Flag Ceremony at 1FAB Headquarters, Kuta Major Cesar L. Sang-an, Upper Pulacan, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur.

LTC ROJEL P OMICTIN ART (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer of 1FAB, commended the battery’s dedication to civic duty, stating:

“This recognition is not merely about the award, but a testament to our soldiers’ unwavering dedication. While our primary duty is to protect the nation, we are equally proud to serve Filipinos in need through acts of compassion, such as blood donation. This is the essence of ‘service before self.’”

Female Soldiers Demonstrate Artillery Excellence During the Gunnery Drill

IPIL, ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY PROVINCE — On 24 April 2025, Charlie Battery of the 1st Field Artillery Battalion (1FAB) successfully conducted a Field Artillery Gunnery Drill, highlighting the participation and leadership of two enlisted female soldiers.

The exercise, held under realistic combat conditions, was designed to enhance tactical readiness, with a focus on artillery coordination, battlefield decision-making, and command ex*****on. As an advocate of gender equality and operational inclusiveness, Charlie Battery continues to break new ground by actively integrating women into traditionally male-dominated roles within the Army Artillery Regiment.

This event marks a significant milestone in the Philippine Army’s ongoing efforts toward gender integration. The participating female troops displayed exceptional proficiency in artillery operations, underscoring their ability to perform complex tasks with precision and confidence.

"This exercise is not only about ensuring combat readiness — it’s about proving that capability knows no gender. Our female soldiers have demonstrated the same level of accuracy, leadership, and determination as their male counterparts," said First Lieutenant Sapuay, Battery Commander of Charlie Battery.

Sanito Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay – A comprehensive readiness assessment was conducted for Charlie Battery, 1st Field Artillery Battalion (1FAB), by the AAR’s Regiment Certification Committee (RCC), led by Captain Advertini B. Binayao of the 11th Field Artillery Battalion (11FAB) on March 31, 2025. The evaluation aimed to assess the unit’s operational readiness and performance across various critical domains.

The assessment focused on key operational areas, including logistics, communications systems, and the function of the gunnery team, specifically evaluating the firing battery and fire direction center (FDC) capabilities. This evaluation is part of a broader effort to ensure that the Battery maintains high operational standards and is capable of adapting to a wide range of operational scenarios.

The RCC’s certification program highlights the Army Artillery Regiment’s ongoing commitment to ensuring its units are prepared for diverse and evolving mission requirements. The results of this assessment will serve as a guide for future training initiatives and resource allocation, helping further optimize the operational effectiveness of Charlie Battery, 1FAB.

Sapuay (ART) PA, Acting Battery Commander, participated in the conduct of a simultaneous flag-raising ceremony in connection with the commemoration of the 128th Philippine Army Founding Anniversary on the 22nd day of March 2025 held at Headquarters, 102nd “IGSOON” Brigade, 1ID, PA.

The Philippine Army commemorated its 128th founding anniversary from February 17 to March 22, 2025, under the theme "Matatag na Sandigan ng Bagong Pilipinas." This theme underscores the Army's steadfast commitment to upholding the highest standards of discipline, professionalism, and service, ensuring it remains a trusted force in every way.

The Charlie “Challenger” troopers reaffirm their commitment to the Philippine Army’s motto, “Courage, Integrity, Loyalty,” which embodies the core values and principles that guide the soldiers in their duty to serve and protect the nation.

Maguing, Lanao del Sur – The Charlie Battery of the 1st Field Artillery Battalion (1FAB) successfully completed a functional test fire of one (1) 105mm Howitzer from March 17-19, 2025, at Tower 88, Maguing, Lanao del Sur. The Howitzers had recently undergone maintenance, and the test fire aimed to evaluate both the maintenance quality and the howitzer's accuracy.

The exercise, involving personnel from the 1st Infantry (TABAK) Division, Philippine Army, went beyond a simple functionality check. It provided a valuable opportunity to showcase the unit's ability to rapidly deploy and effectively utilize artillery fire support in response to potential security threats. This demonstration underscores the importance of preparedness and swift action in maintaining stability.

IPIL, ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY – The Charlie Battery of the 1st Field Artillery Battalion (1FAB) successfully conducted a simultaneous earthquake drill on March 13, 2025, at its headquarters in the 102nd Brigade, Barangay Sanito, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay Province. The drill, which began at 2:00 PM and ended at 2:45 PM, simulated an earthquake drill and incorporated a critical rescue scenario for personnel potentially trapped or buried in collapsed structures.

The exercise tested the unit's preparedness and response capabilities during a significant seismic event. The successful ex*****on of the drill highlights Charlie Battery's commitment to readiness and underscores the importance of proactive disaster preparedness.
