IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay โ€” The Department of Labor and Employment 9- Zamboanga Sibugay Field Office (DOLE-ZSFO) has intensified its field monitoring activities across the province to ensure the proper implementation of the Emergency Employment Program and to provide on-site assistance to beneficiaries currently deployed in public schools under Brigada Eskwela 2026.

Teams from the ZSFO conducted visits to various schools in the sixteen municipalities of Zamboanga Sibugay where beneficiaries are presently assigned. The monitoring activities focused on validating attendance, assessing working conditions, checking compliance with program guidelines, and coordinating with District Supervisors and Principals regarding the performance and deployment of workers.

A total of 2,593 beneficiaries were deployed to 253 public schools beginning June 1 and will remain assigned to their respective schools until June 5, 2026. The deployment was undertaken in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) - Zamboanga Sibugay Division as part of the nationwide Brigada Eskwela activities in preparation for the opening of classes.

During site visits, beneficiaries were observed undertaking a wide range of school improvement activities, including classroom cleaning, sweeping and clearing of school grounds, collection and disposal of waste materials, vegetation trimming, removal of debris, repainting of selected facilities, maintenance of school gardens, and other preparatory tasks identified by school authorities.

The additional workforce has assisted schools in completing maintenance activities that are often difficult to accomplish within a limited period prior to the opening of classes.

Provincial Director Elamsalih E. Ungad said the monitoring activities serve both as a compliance mechanism and an opportunity to ensure that beneficiaries receive appropriate support while carrying out their assignments."Regular monitoring allows us to verify that the program is being implemented according to guidelines and that beneficiaries are able to perform their duties in a safe working environment. At the same time, it enables us to address concerns raised by schools and workers at the earliest opportunity," Ungad said.

School heads who participated in the monitoring visits expressed appreciation for the support provided through the DOLEโ€™s Emergency Employment Program, noting that the deployment has contributed significantly to the preparation of classrooms and school facilities ahead of the opening of classes.

Following the completion of their Brigada Eskwela assignments on June 5, beneficiaries will proceed to environmental protection activities under separate community-based projects implemented in coordination with Municipal Agriculture Offices (MAOs), Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs), and participating local government units.

As monitoring activities continue throughout the deployment period, DOLE remains focused on ensuring that public resources are utilized properly while generating meaningful employment opportunities and producing visible improvements in communities across Zamboanga Sibugay.

KABASALAN, Zamboanga Sibugay โ€” The Department of Labor and Employment Zamboanga Sibugay Field Office (DOLE-ZSFO) joined the Department of Education Provincial Brigada Eskwela 2026 Kick-Off Program held at Kabasalan Science and Technology High School, bringing together government agencies, local officials, educators, and community volunteers in preparation for the opening of classes.

The activity formally launched this yearโ€™s Brigada Eskwela campaign in the province and underscored the shared responsibility of government institutions and communities in ensuring that schools are ready to welcome learners when classes begin.

Representing Provincial Director Elamsalih E. Ungad during the Provincial Brigada Eskwela 2026 Kick-Off Program was Michael Vincent B. Macrohon, RSW, Senior Labor and Employment Officer, who joined education officials, local government representatives, and community partners in expressing support for the province-wide school preparation initiative.

As part of the initiative, beneficiaries under DOLEโ€™s Emergency Employment Program actively participated in the kick-off activities alongside teachers and volunteers. The beneficiaries assisted in campus clean-up operations, clearing of school grounds, waste collection and disposal, vegetation trimming, classroom preparation, and other maintenance activities identified by school authorities.

Their participation forms part of the ongoing deployment of 2,593 emergency employment beneficiaries assigned to 253 public schools across the sixteen municipalities of Zamboanga Sibugay from June 1 to 5, 2026, in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd).

Provincial Director Elamsalih E. Ungad said the deployment demonstrates how employment assistance can be linked with community needs, allowing workers to earn while contributing to activities that directly benefit learners and schools. "The Emergency Employment Program provides temporary income opportunities for workers while enabling them to participate in projects that serve the public. Through Brigada Eskwela, beneficiaries contribute to the preparation of learning environments where thousands of students will spend the coming school year," Ungad said.

School officials welcomed the support provided through the deployment, noting that the additional workforce helped accelerate school preparation activities and allowed priority maintenance work to be completed before the opening of classes.

One beneficiary shared that the program enabled him to support his family's daily needs while taking part in an activity that benefits the community. "Malaking tulong po ito sa aming pamilya. Habang may pagkakataon kaming kumita, nakakatulong din kami sa paghahanda ng paaralan para sa mga estudyante. Nakakatuwang makita na may naiaambag kami sa aming komunidad," the beneficiary said.

The Provincial Brigada Eskwela Kick-Off highlighted the value of collaboration among government agencies, schools, local government units, and community volunteers. As beneficiaries continue their assignments until June 5, their work contributes to creating cleaner, safer, and more conducive learning environments for learners across Zamboanga Sibugay.

Through the combined efforts of DepEd, DOLE, local government units, community partners, and volunteers, Brigada Eskwela continues to demonstrate how collective action can support quality education and community development throughout the province.

IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay โ€” In support of Brigada Eskwela 2026 and the preparation of public schools for the opening of classes, the Department of Labor and Employment Zamboanga Sibugay Field Office (DOLE-ZSFO), in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd), has deployed 2,593 beneficiaries under the Emergency Employment Program to 253 public schools across the sixteen municipalities of Zamboanga Sibugay.

The deployment follows a series of orientation activities conducted from May 29 to 31, 2026, in partnership with the Alicia Neighborhood Multi-Purpose Cooperative (ALNEMPCO), the programโ€™s co-partner in project implementation. Beneficiaries were oriented on program guidelines, documentary requirements, workplace safety measures, areas of assignment, and employment conditions before signing their contracts and receiving personal protective equipment (PPEs).

Since June 1, beneficiaries have been assisting school administrators, teachers, parents, and community volunteers in carrying out Brigada Eskwela activities, including school grounds maintenance, classroom preparation, vegetation clearing, waste management, and other improvement works necessary to ensure that learning environments are ready for the opening of classes.

The deployment forms part of the government's continuing effort to provide temporary employment opportunities to displaced, underemployed, and economically vulnerable workers while addressing community needs through public service projects.

Provincial Director Elamsalih E. Ungad said the undertaking demonstrates how employment programs can create immediate opportunities for workers while supporting the education sector. "The program provides income opportunities for workers while helping schools prepare for the return of learners. It is a practical example of how government programs can respond to community needs while providing assistance to families who require temporary employment," Ungad said.

Beneficiaries are engaged for either 20 or 45 working days, depending on the approved project arrangement. Following the completion of their Brigada Eskwela assignments on June 5, participants will continue their remaining workdays under environmental protection activities to be implemented in partnership with Municipal Agriculture Offices (MAOs) and Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs) of participating local government units.

Senior Labor and Employment Officer Michael Vincent B. Macrohon noted that the project allows beneficiaries to contribute to multiple community activities during their employment period. "From preparing classrooms for learners to supporting environmental protection activities in their communities, beneficiaries are given the opportunity to earn while participating in projects that deliver visible public benefits," Macrohon said.

School officials across the province welcomed the deployment, recognizing the contribution of beneficiaries in accelerating school preparation efforts and supporting Brigada Eskwela activities at a time when schools are mobilizing resources and volunteers for the opening of classes.

As the deployment continues across Zamboanga Sibugay, the collaboration among DOLE, DepEd, ALNEMPCO, local government units, MAOs, and PESOs demonstrates how public employment programs can be aligned with community priorities, creating opportunities for workers while supporting education and environmental stewardship throughout the province.

IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay โ€“ Guided by the theme, โ€œDisenteng Trabaho para sa Lahat: Iisang Hangarin, Bagong Pilipinas, Sama-samang Mararating,โ€ the Department of Labor and Employment Zamboanga Sibugay Field Office (DOLE-ZSFO) led the ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with partner government agencies during the 124th Labor Day Celebration for Workers in the Informal Sector on May 28, 2026, in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

The signing formalized a shared commitment among participating agencies to coordinate programs and services that address employment, livelihood, social protection, skills development, environmental sustainability, and community development concerns across the province.

The activity formed part of DOLE's continuing efforts to strengthen government convergence and improve access to public services, particularly for workers, farmers, fisherfolk, youth, women, informal workers, and other sectors facing economic and social challenges.

Provincial Director Elamsalih E. Ungad described the signing as a reaffirmation of the government's commitment to responsive and people-centered service. He noted that while agencies carry distinct mandates, their common objective remains the same: improving the lives of individuals and families through accessible programs, decent employment opportunities, and social protection services. He added that the Labor Day theme reflects the responsibility of public institutions to work collectively in ensuring that government programs reach communities that need them most.

The Memorandum of Understanding provides a framework for cooperation in the implementation of employment facilitation activities, livelihood development initiatives, labor standards promotion, technical skills training, environmental and fisheries support programs, youth development activities, community organizing efforts, and other public service interventions.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by heads of the participating agencies and witnessed by DOLE Regional Director Albert E. Gutib. The ceremonial signing symbolized the agencies' shared commitment to strengthening coordination and bring government services closer to communities throughout Zamboanga Sibugay.

Among the priority areas identified under the partnership are the implementation of the DOLE Emergency Employment Program, DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP), Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES), Government Internship Program (GIP), Labor Inspection Program, Technical Advisory Visits (TAV), social protection services, financial literacy activities, disaster preparedness initiatives, Brigada Eskwela participation, volunteer mobilization, and various capacity-building programs.

Participating agencies included the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Zamboanga Sibugay Maritime Police Station, Department of Education (DepEd), National Irrigation Administration (NIA), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG Fund), Social Security System (SSS), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

For many communities in Zamboanga Sibugay, government services often intersect with multiple needs, from employment and livelihood support to education, health care, social security, and disaster preparedness. Through closer coordination among agencies, families can access a wider range of services while reducing barriers that often limit opportunities for growth and economic participation.

The ceremonial signing reflects a continuing effort to bring government programs closer to communities and strengthen cooperation among public institutions. As the partnership moves forward, participating agencies are expected to pursue coordinated actions that support decent work, strengthen local development initiatives, and improve the delivery of services to the people of Zamboanga Sibugay.
