In an order dated February 5, 2026, the Regional Trial Court of Imus City, Cavite, convicted, a 28-year-old man, alias "Anton," for violation of Section 5(d) of RA No. 12010 [Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act (AFASA)], and ordered him to suffer the imprisonment of four (4) to six (6) years.

"Anton" was arrested on January 6, 2026, through an entrapment operation conducted by the Cavite Provincial Cyber Response Team for the illegal online sale of an e-wallet account.

PBGEN Wilson C. Asueta, Acting Director of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group, lauded the operatives for the court's conviction of their arrested individual. โ€œThis conviction affirms our commitment to protecting the public from cybercrime. The ACG will continue to strengthen its efforts to ensure that those who misuse technology to harm others are held accountable,โ€ he said.

The PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) sustained its intensified campaign against cybercrime to ensure a safe and secure cyberspace for the public.

For the week, a total of 41 cases were referred for filing, while 25 individuals were arrested through entrapment operations and the service of warrants. The Group also implemented 35 cyber warrants, conducted 448 cyber patrolling activities, and completed 28 digital forensic examinations. Additionally, four victims were rescued from abuse, and three individuals were convicted.

PBGEN Wilson C. Asueta, Acting Director of the PNP ACG, commended the Group for the weekโ€™s accomplishments. โ€œThe PNP ACG will continue to strengthen cyber intelligence, enhance investigative and forensic capabilities, intensify cyber patrolling, and expand public awareness efforts to effectively combat emerging cyber threats,โ€ he stated.

On February 9, 2026, at 10:40 PM in Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental, operatives of the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 12 arrested a 20-year-old woman, alias "Jenny," by virtue of a warrant of arrest duly issued by the court.

"Jenny" is facing charges for four counts of violation of Section 4(c)
4 of RA No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012), with bail set at Php50,000.00 for each case.

On February 9, 2026, at about 7:50 PM in Mati City, Davao Oriental Province, the operatives of the Davao Oriental Provincial Cyber Response Team conducted an entrapment operation that led to the arrest of two male suspects, alias "Rom," 34, and "Mat," 22, for the illegal online sale of an e-wallet account.

The two suspects are facing charges for violations of Section 11(g) of RA No. 11934 (SIM Registration Act) and Section 5(d) of RA No. 12010 [Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act (AFASA)], both in relation to Section 6 of RA No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012).

He also emphasized, "Electronic wallet accounts are intended for personal use and must be secured at all times. On February 9, 2026, at 6:23 PM in Pasay City, operatives of the Women and Children Cybercrime Protection Unit conducted an entrapment operation that led to the arrest of a 27-year-old man, alias "Fritz," for blackmailing and harassing his ex-girlfriend online using her explicit photos and videos.

โ€œFritzโ€ is facing charges for violations of Article 286 (Grave Coercion) of the Revised Penal Code and RA No. 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004) and RA No. 9995 (Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009), all in relation to Section 6 of RA No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012).

On February 9, 2026, at about 5:00 PM in Naga City, operatives of the Camarines Sur Provincial Cyber Response Team conducted an entrapment operation that led to the arrest of a 22-year-old man, alias "Isko," for coercing and extorting a senior citizen victim through a social media platform.

"Isko" is facing charges for violation of Article 294 (Robbery with Violence Against or Intimidation of Persons) of the Revised Penal Code, in relation to Section 6 of RA No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012).

On February 9, 2026, at about 11:45 AM in Tarlac City, operatives of the Tarlac Provincial Cyber Response Team arrested a 22-year-old woman, alias "Elay," by virtue of a duly issued warrant of arrest.

"Elay" is facing charges for violation of Article 315 (Swindling/Estafa) of the Revised Penal Code in relation to Section 6 of RA No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012) with bail set at Php48,000.00.

PBGEN Wilson C. Asueta, Acting Director of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG), commended the Unit for the successful implementation of the warrant. He also stated, โ€œUsing technology to deceive, steal, or exploit others will not go unnoticed. "Andoy" is facing charges for violations of Section 7 (Subsequent Sale of a Registered SIM), in relation to Section 11(g) of RA No. 11934 (SIM Registration Act) and Section 5(d) of RA No. 12010 [Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act (AFASA)], both in relation to Section 6 of RA No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012).

He also emphasized, "Electronic wallet accounts are strictly personal and must be kept secure.
