The Schools Division of Imus City conducted a Division Orientation on the Language Mapping Process for Key Stage 1, with Dr. Rosalina J. Villaneza, Chief of the Bureau of Learning DeliveryโTeaching and Learning Division (BLD-TLD) at DepEd Central Office, serving as the featured keynote speaker.
Held May 18โ19 at Tanza Oasis Hotel and Resort in Cavite, the orientation gathered Grade 1โ3 focal persons, kindergarten chairpersons, elementary principals, education program supervisors, and ALS coordinators. Organized under the leadership of OIC-Schools Division Superintendent Lito A. Palomar, Assistant Superintendent Glenda D. Catamdan, and CID Chief Dr. Marciano V. Valles, the event marked a milestone as the first of its kind in Region IV-A CALABARZON, positioning Imus City as a trailblazer in language mapping initiatives.
In her keynote, Dr. Villaneza underscored the importance of language in education, stressing that instruction must begin โfrom where the learners areโ to ensure inclusivity and comprehension in early grade learning. She emphasized that language mapping is vital in shaping effective learning delivery and supporting DepEdโs thrust for quality and inclusive education.
The orientation also tackled DepEd Order No. 35, s. 2025, its implications for learning delivery, and the administration of the Language Identification Tool (LIT). Facilitators guided participants through sessions on LMP forms, simulation exercises, and focus group discussions to strengthen protocols and ensure accurate mapping of learnersโ mother tongues.
According to Division Memorandum No. 258, s. 2026, the objectives included understanding the role of language in education, strengthening LIT administration, enhancing documentation practices, and promoting collaboration among education leaders. The official pubmat reinforced these goals by showcasing sessions on branding, media practices, and documentation strategies, aligning with the Divisionโs thrust for consistency and clarity in communication.
By hosting this pioneering orientation, the Schools Division of Imus City underscored its commitment to learner-centered education and its leadership in advancing DepEdโs initiatives for inclusive, context-sensitive instruction across CALABARZON.
