The Local Government Unit of Impasugong expresses its deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the victim and the family affected by the unfortunate stabbing incident in Purok 4, Barangay Poblacion, at approximately 1:20 AM today, August 22, 2026.

We strongly condemn this senseless act of violence. Impasugong has long been an environment of peace and mutual respect, and acts that threaten the safety of our residents have absolutely no place in our municipality.

The LGU is working closely with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and relevant authorities to ensure a swift and thorough investigation. We have full confidence in our law enforcement officers to bring those responsible to justice through the proper legal channels.

We reassure our residents, visitors, and valued tourists that public safety and peace and order remain our utmost priority. Police visibility and security patrols across the municipality have been heightened to maintain a safe and secure environment for everyone.

Impasugong remains the peaceful home our residents cherish and the safe, beautiful destination our visitors love. Our local government, alongside our tourism stakeholders and community leaders, remains dedicated to preserving the safe and vibrant atmosphere our town is known for.

Because the investigation is ongoing, we urge the public to refrain from spreading unverified information, rumors, or graphic media online. Responsible sharing helps prevent unnecessary alarm and allows law enforcement to conduct their work effectively.

We remain steadfastly committed to the security and well-being of every Impasug-ongnon and guest. Impasugong stays open, peaceful, and welcoming.

UPDATE

The post regarding the unauthorized use of the name of the Municipal Assessor's Office and LGU Impasugong has already been taken down.

The post has been removed since it has already served its purpose of informing the public. To prevent the continued circulation of the names and images of individuals who were also affected by the unauthorized use of their identities, we have decided to take it down.

As previously confirmed through our coordination, the individuals whose names and images were used are not connected with the Municipal Assessor's Office or the LGU Impasugong and were likewise unaware that their identities had been use.

The matter has also been referred to the appropriate authorities for their information and any action they may deem appropriate.

Reminders:

✅ always be vigilant in dealing with anyone claiming to be a representative or employee of any office, agency or organization.

✅ Verify from official pages, contact information before doing any transaction especially if it involves monetary value.

✅ be mindful who you share your photos and personal information especially online online apps.

To ensure the safety of students and school personnel, Mayor Mai Okinlay has officially issued Executive Order No. 5, declaring the suspension of face-to-face classes at all levels and work in schools across the Municipality of Impasug-ong from February 5 to 6, 2026.

With the municipality currently under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2, the Local Government Unit (LGU) is taking proactive measures to protect the community from the threat of rain-induced landslides and flooding caused by Tropical Storm "Basyang." Following the 2:00 AM PAGASA report, the LGU recognizes the immediate need to keep learners and educators away from potential hazards during the height of the storm.

In accordance with DepEd Order No. 022, s. 2024, all schools are directed to shift to Modular Distance Learning and other Alternative Delivery Modes. This ensures that while face-to-face sessions are paused for safety, the education of our young Impasugonganons continues. We urge all parents and guardians to keep children indoors and monitor official channels for further updates.
