The Provincial Tourism, Culture, and the Arts Office of Lanao del Sur successfully conducted a Site and Market Assessment Tool for Tourist Attractions (SMATTA) in Municipality of Picong, Lanao del Sur, in coordination with the Local Government Unit (LGU) and with the full support of the Municipal Mayor, Hon. Mesron D. Balindong. This activity forms part of the Province’s continuing efforts to systematically assess, develop, and strengthen local tourism destinations, ensuring their readiness for sustainable promotion and investment.

The SMATTA visit aimed to evaluate the existing tourism assets of the municipality, identify potential sites for development, and determine appropriate strategies to enhance their marketability and competitiveness. Through this initiative, both the Provincial Office and the LGU sought to align local tourism plans with provincial and regional development frameworks, while also promoting community-based and environmentally responsible tourism practices.

Representing the Provincial Tourism, Culture, and the Arts Office were Mr. Mohammad Kouzbary Said, Ms. Saimah Naik, Mr. Naim Jaain, Mr. Wesham A. Abedin, Ms. Faisah M. Bantugan, and Mr. Ahmad Nour-Al-Dinn Tamano Jr., the Provincial Tourism Focal,
who led the technical assessment and facilitated discussions throughout the activity.

The Local Government Unit of Picong actively participated in the assessment through the presence and support of key municipal officials and personnel, including the Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator, Municipal Engineer, Municipal Agriculture Officer, Municipal Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy Officer, Municipal Tourism Officer, and administrative personnel. Their involvement ensured that relevant local data, insights, and development priorities were effectively integrated into the assessment process.

The SMATTA visit concluded with collaborative discussions and initial recommendations geared toward enhancing the tourism potential of Picong. These include improving site accessibility, strengthening local tourism management, and promotional development. The initiative underscores the shared commitment of the Provincial Government and the Municipality of Picong to advance tourism as a driver of inclusive growth, cultural preservation, and sustainable development in Lanao del Sur.

The meeting was well-attended by our dedicated Department Heads, underscoring our local government's unified approach to effective public financial management.

April 13, 2026 | Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit (CFLGA) Orientation

The CFLGA Orientation was successfully conducted today, April 13, 2026, at the Town Hall of Picong, Lanao del Sur.

We sincerely extend our gratitude to all participants from various offices—MSSD, MPDO, HRMO, Municipal Accountant, and the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE), as well as the Sangguniang Bayan and our focal persons from ECCD, LCPC, LHB, and LSB—for your active participation and support.

The activity was led by our MLGOO, Ms. Parida B. Mangotara, whose guidance and leadership greatly contributed to the success of the orientation, together with our CFLGA Focal Person, Ms. Fathma Shahoney B. Alilang.

This orientation plays a vital role in strengthening our collective efforts to promote a child-friendly community for the welfare of every child.

Pursuant to OCM Advisory No. 02, Series of 2026, and in view of Memorandum Circular No. 116 issued by the Office of the President, a Work-from-Home (WFH) arrangement shall be observed from 8:00 AM to 12:00 NN. Subsequently, a suspension of work in government offices shall take effect from 12:00 NN onwards on April 1, 2026.

Furthermore, in accordance with Presidential Proclamation No. 1006, April 2 (Maundy Thursday) and April 3 (Good Friday), 2026 are declared regular holidays nationwide.

The Local Government Unit of Picong, under the leadership of our Municipal Mayor, Hon. Mesron Dimaporo Balindong, successfully held a program this morning in observance of National Women's Month.

The event was facilitated by the GAD Focal Maam Esnairah Balabaran and it was well-attended by representatives from MSSD and MAFAR, alongside our dedicated LGU personnel. The activity focused on strengthening the partnership between agencies to further promote gender-responsive governance and sustainable livelihoods for women in our community.

Together, we reaffirm our commitment to the national call: “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society.”

March 23, 2026 | MPOC & MADAC Joint Meeting Update

The 1st Joint Quarterly Meeting of the Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC) and Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC) was successfully conducted today, March 23, 2026, at D’Orchards Restaurant, Iligan City.

The activity served as a vital platform for strengthening coordination among agencies and stakeholders in advancing peace, order, and public safety within the Municipality of Picong.

Key updates and insights were presented by partner agencies:

A significant highlight of the activity was the Ceremonial Signing and Approval of the POPS Plan 2026–2028, duly endorsed by the MLGOO, Parida B. Mangotara, Municipal Mayor, Hon. Mesron D. Balindong, MPDC, Amimbsar M. Sabdula, POPS Plan Focal Person, Nabil A. Ali, SB Secretary, Abdul Azis L. G**o, and Budget Officer, Princess Jauharah S. Balindong—marking a milestone in the municipality’s commitment to a safer, more resilient, and progressive community.
