๐Ÿ“On May 5, 2026, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Iloilo approved the ๐๐š๐ซ๐š๐ง๐ ๐š๐ฒ ๐๐š๐ง๐ญ๐š๐ฒ ๐ƒ๐ซ๐จ๐ ๐š (๐๐๐ƒ) ๐Ž๐ซ๐๐ข๐ง๐š๐ง๐œ๐žโ€” a direct response to the rising number of drug-related incidents at the grassroots, including recent buy-bust operations involving barangay officials themselves.

Authored by ๐‡๐จ๐ง. ๐‰๐ฎ๐ง๐ž ๐’. ๐Œ๐จ๐ง๐๐ž๐ฃ๐š๐ซ, Chairperson of the Committee on Public Order and Security, the ordinance organizes barangay officials, tanods, BHWs, SK officials, and accredited civic groups into a community watch against illegal drugs, with monetary rewards of โ‚ฑ10,000 to โ‚ฑ30,000 for information leading to lawful arrests โ€” the higher amounts applying when the suspect is a Kagawad, SK Official, or Punong Barangay.โš–๏ธ

To prevent abuse, the ordinance is equipped with ๐œ๐ฅ๐ž๐š๐ซ ๐ฌ๐š๐Ÿ๐ž๐ ๐ฎ๐š๐ซ๐๐ฌ:
๐Ÿ”น Informants may report to ๐™ฌ๐™๐™ค๐™š๐™ซ๐™š๐™ง ๐™ฉ๐™๐™š๐™ฎ ๐™ฉ๐™ง๐™ช๐™จ๐™ฉ ๐™ข๐™ค๐™จ๐™ฉโ€” the Punong Barangay, Mayor, Chief of Police, PDEA Officer, IPG Focal Person, or the Governor.
