The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Region VI with Secretary Jose Ramon โPingโ P. Aliling proudly joined the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and local government partners during the successful conduct of "๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐ผ๐ด ๐ป๐ด ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐ป๐ด๐๐น๐ผ: ๐๐๐ป๐๐ถ๐ฎ๐ป๐ด ๐๐๐ธ๐ฎ๐ ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐บ๐ถ๐น๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ด ๐ ๐ฎ๐ ๐๐๐ฝ๐ฎ, ๐๐ผ๐บ๐๐ป๐ถ๐ฑ๐ฎ๐ฑ ๐ป๐ฎ ๐๐๐ป๐๐ถ๐ฎ๐ป, ๐๐๐ธ๐ฎ๐ ๐ป๐ฎ ๐ ๐ฎ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฎ๐ด" at the Iloilo River Esplanade, April 24, 2026.
The event underscored the shared commitment of government agencies toward sustainable development, environmental stewardship, and resilient communities for every Filipino family.
Representing DHSUD, Regional Director Eva Maria P. Marfil reaffirmed the agencyโs mandate of ensuring access to safe, decent, and climate-adaptive human settlements through the banner program ๐ง๐ฎ๐ต๐ฎ๐ป๐ฎ๐ป ๐ป๐ฎ ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐ฎ ๐๐ฎ ๐๐น๐ถ๐บ๐ฎ.
In her speech representing Secretary Aliling, RD Marfil highlighted the importance of secure land tenure through the ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐ผ๐ด ๐ง๐ถ๐๐๐น๐ผ ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ด๐ฟ๐ฎ๐บ, emphasizing that land titles are more than legal documentsโthey are foundations of security, dignity, and brighter futures for beneficiary families.
DHSUD also showcased ongoing and upcoming housing initiatives in Iloilo, particularly the Iloilo City Governmentโs ๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ฎ๐ป๐ผ ๐ฉ๐ถ๐น๐น๐ฎ๐ด๐ฒ ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ท๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ in Iloilo City. A model housing unit for the ๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ฎ๐ป๐ผ ๐ฉ๐ถ๐น๐น๐ฎ๐ด๐ฒ ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ท๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ initiative was presented to the publicโa glimpse of this transformative development that aims to provide ๐ญ๐ณ๐ฏ ๐น๐ผ๐ณ๐-๐๐๐ฝ๐ฒ, ๐ฑ๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฟ-๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐ต๐ผ๐๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ป๐ถ๐๐ for informal settler families living in high-risk riverbank areas. Anchored on sustainable urban planning, the project aligns safe housing with environmental protection and river rehabilitation.
Secretary Aliling, together with Iloilo City Mayor Raisa Treรฑas, awarded Certificates of Entitlement to Lot Allocation (CELA) to 25 beneficiaries from Batiano Village.
Further strengthening climate resilience efforts, DHSUD recognized the ๐ฃ๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐ธ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ด๐ฟ๐ฎ๐บ of the Iloilo Provincial Government as a model community initiative integrating socialized housing with sustainable features such as solar streetlights, underground power lines, and rainwater harvesting systems. Expansion projects in Oton and initial relocation plans in Santa Barbara are likewise underway in partnership with DHSUD.
Secretary Aliling, along with Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr., also distributed CELAs to five beneficiaries from Purok Resilience Village and led the ceremonial turnover of climate-resilient housing units.
Also part of the activity was the awarding of the approved housing loans for beneficiaries of Kauswagan Residences in Iloilo City by Pag-IBIG Fund CEO Marilene Acosta, further strengthening opportunities for safe and affordable housing.
DHSUD stands ready to extend technical assistance through its Resilient Urban Design and Development (RUDD) Guidelines to further enhance the projectโs adaptive design and sustainability features.
Also present during the activity are DHSUD Officials for the Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Program (Expanded 4PH) Senior Undersecretary Eduardo P. Robles and Dir. Paul Ray F. Hong.
DHSUD Region VI extends its gratitude to DENR for spearheading Luntiang Bukas. Together with partner agencies and local government units and private sector partners, DHSUD remains steadfast in building greener, safer, and more resilient communities for all. ๐๏ธ
