IPCC CONVENES FOR 3RD QUARTER MEETING

LOOK | The Iloilo Provincial Convergence Committee (IPCC) held its 3rd Quarter Meeting today, August 20, at Days Hotel, Iloilo City.

The meeting covered updates on DSWD programs, including 4Ps, KALAHI-CIDSS, and the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP).

TESDA also provided updates on the endorsement of profiled 4Ps beneficiaries in the province. The committee also discussed the proposed plans and activities for CDD Day.

The Local Government Unit of Barotac Viejo led by Mayor Bongbong Tupas joins the nation in commemorating the 48th National Disability Rights Week, honoring the rights, dignity, contributions, and potential of persons with disabilities (PWDs).

The celebration highlights the importance of building a community where every person—regardless of ability—is given equal opportunities to participate, contribute, and thrive.

The celebration was made even more meaningful and successful through the presence of Ma’am Christine Roa, Development Management Officer II of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) of the Iloilo Provincial Government, who shared valuable insights on the rights, privileges, and benefits of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). Also present in the said event were Vice Mayor Vivian Buenavista, SB Members, Sir Leo Baticbatic-Federated PWD Presidents, Ma'am Rhodelyn Ledesma-OIC MSWDO, and PWD Presidents from the 26 Barangays.

Ever since, the Municipality of Barotac Viejo has remained passionate and committed to placing the needs, rights, and welfare of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) among its top priorities. In fact the recently concluded Regional PWD Summit was held in the Municipality showing the LGU's support to its priority program.

1,771 CHILD DEVELOPMENT WORKERS GATHER IN ILOILO

WATCH | A total of 1,771 Child Development Teachers and Child Development Workers from municipalities across Iloilo gathered for the Provincial Convention.

Gov. Arthur Defensor, Jr. joined the event, which highlighted the important role of child development workers in shaping the future of Iloilo’s children. The Child and Youth Development Center was also presented as part of the province’s continuing support for children and youth.

Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr. expressed his gratitude to more than 1,800 Child Development Teachers and Workers in the province for their vital role in the holistic development of children and youth.

He made the remark during the opening of the two-day Child Development Teachers and Workers Provincial Convention at Punta Villa Resort, Iloilo City, on Thursday, August 13.

“Your role is very crucial. Before children can enter elementary and secondary school, they must first undergo Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD). The Iloilo Provincial Government fully supports you because our vision of total youth development cannot be achieved without you,” Defensor emphasized.

“Salamat gid kay kamo ang nagahatag tyempo sa aton mga kabataan,” he added.

The governor highlighted his administration’s programs for youth development, including Bulig Eskwela sang Probinsya (BES Probins), School-based Multi-purpose Teen Centers, and Family and Youth Development Centers (FYDCs).

He also introduced a new initiative—the establishment of the Child and Youth Development Center (CYDC) under the Office of the Local Youth Development Officer (LYDO).

The ₱5-million, two-story CYDC building will first be constructed in Barangay Cahaguikican, Pototan, with plans to expand to other barangays across the province. The ground floor will house the barangay’s ECCD program, while the upper floor will serve as the venue for the Sangguniang Kabataan.

Present at the opening program were Vice Governor Nathalie Ann Debuque, Ma. Theresa Medina of the ECCD Council, Vicente Tan representing Uswag Ilonggo Partylist Representative James “Jojo” Ang, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) Acting Head Rani Melvi Cuarte, Local Youth Development Officer Shiela Mae Tuares, and Elizabeth Ortega, president of the Provincial CDT/CDW Federation.

Child Development Teachers and Workers who have served for 25 years or more received certificates of recognition. Governor Defensor also hosted their Dinner and Governor’s Night socials.

The second day of the convention will feature technical sessions on upskilling and reskilling CDTs/CDWs, as well as activities focused on mental wellness, led by invited speakers.

The event was organized by the National Federation of CDT/CDW of the Philippines – Iloilo Chapter, with support from the PSWDO.

The Provincial Senior Citizens Federation, in partnership with the OPSWDO, conducted its Regular Monthly Meeting on August 11, 2026, at the Social Hall, Casa Real, Iloilo Provincial Capitol.

The meeting featured discussions on the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) and the role of PSA data in the validation and updating of beneficiaries under the Social Pension Program for Indigent Senior Citizens, led by Stephen C. Araña, Senior Statistical Specialist, PSA Iloilo, and Ricamarie G. Gallego, Statistical Analyst, PSA-RSSO VI.

Meanwhile, Marie Grace C. Tamonan, SWO II, DSWD Region VI, discussed the New Social Pension Guidelines, including beneficiary validation, cross-matching, and other relevant updates.

The activity strengthened inter-agency coordination in promoting responsive and effective social protection services for our senior citizens. 💙👵👴
