BRINGING DTI SERVICES CLOSER TO ISLAND COMMUNITIES! 🏝️💼

Distance is no barrier to progress! Earlier today, September 2, 2026, history was made as DTI Region VI and DTI Antique, in partnership with the LGU of Caluya and Brgy. Semirara officially launched the Negosyo Center-Semirara, highlighted by a MOA Signing and Blessing ceremony in Sitio Sibucao, Brgy. Semirara, Caluya, Antique.

This momentous event marks the 19th Negosyo Center established in Antique and the second for the municipality of Caluya following its first Negosyo Center in 2016. With this launch, Antique solidifies its position as the first province in Western Visayas to achieve full NC coverage across all 18 municipalities, ensuring that entrepreneurship development reaches even the most remote island communities.

Highlighting the agency's commitment, DTI VI Acting Regional Director Mutya D. Eusores stressed in her message that access is a critical pillar of business development. She noted that NC Semirara will serve as a gateway to entrepreneurship, helping local entrepreneurs overcome barriers to information, training, financing, business registration, and market linkages to transform ideas into sustainable enterprises.

Reflecting on the deeper purpose of the launch, DTI Antique OIC Provincial Director Mary Jade R. Gonzales shared in her message that today stands as a major step forward in making public services easily accessible. She highlighted that no distance should stand between people and the support they need, pledging ongoing support for inclusive development where every entrepreneur’s dreams matter, regardless of location.

Although weather disruptions from multiple low-pressure areas cancelled ferry trips and prevented the regional and provincial leadership from physically attending, the spirit of service prevailed virtually via Zoom.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to Hon. Mayor Rigil Kent G. Lim, Semirara Punong Barangay Catherine "Kap Kikay" G. Lim, DTI VI Acting ARD Romel L. Earlier today, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region VI joined the Local Government Unit of Cabatuan for the grand opening of the Agro-Industrial Trade Fair, Exhibits, and Garden Show 2026 at the Cabatuan Cultural & Sports Center!

Cabatuan is blessed with abundant agricultural resources. However, the true potential of agriculture is realized not merely by producing raw commodities, but by transforming them into higher-value products. Through processing, innovation, packaging, and market development, agricultural products can generate greater income, create jobs, and open new opportunities for farmers, MSMEs, and the entire community.

This is why DTI strongly supports initiatives that move our local economy higher up the value chain. We believe that every agricultural product has the potential to become a competitive enterprise, and every farmer has the potential to become an entrepreneur.

In her inspirational message delivered during the event, DTI Region VI Acting Regional Director Mutya Eusores highlighted DTI's close collaboration with LGU Cabatuan through the DTI Iloilo Provincial Office on establishing a Shared Service Facility (SSF) for Vegetable Processing: "The Shared Service Facility is not simply about equipment, it is about creating opportunities. 🌱 Advancing MSME Sustainability: SPARK Intermediate Training Session

Micro, small, and medium enterprises across Western Visayas are paving the way toward long-term resilience as they embed Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles directly into their everyday operations.

To convert these sustainability goals into concrete actions, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region VI, in partnership with the DTI-Bureau of MSME Development (BSMED) and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), convened local business leaders for the SPARK Intermediate Training Session on August 26, 2026.

Building directly on the insights gathered from the ESG Self-Assessment Tool (ESAT) completed by participating MSMEs earlier this year, the hybrid training aimed to bridge operational gaps and elevate overall ESG performance across the region. GRI Philippines Country Manager Mr. Vincent de Paz kicked off the learning modules by sharing fundamental concepts on sustainability, the scope of Project SPARK, and the role of GRI standards in modern business.

Highlighting the urgency of the initiative, DTI VI Acting Regional Director Mutya D. Eusores emphasized that sustainability has evolved from a global trend into a non-negotiable business imperative. She noted that consumers, investors, and communities are increasingly choosing brands that deliver economic, social, and environmental value, placing ESG-ready enterprises in a prime position to innovate and stay competitive.

The session seamlessly transitioned from theory to practice through hands-on workshops facilitated by trained DTI focals. Participants tackled critical steps in sustainability reporting, including identifying business hotspots, assessing material issues, collecting essential ESG data, and navigating SPARK template disclosures.

Closing the activity, DTI VI Acting Assistant Regional Director Romel L. Amihan reminded entrepreneurs that real impact happens on the ground, urging them to apply their new reporting skills to daily operations so their long-term sustainability plans yield tangible results. Through the SPARK initiative, DTI Region VI continues to build a community of resilient, responsible, and globally competitive Western Visayas enterprises.

Today’s session on the Global Market Outlook and Demand for Healthcare Information Management Services (HIMS) marks a major leap forward for Region VI!

During the opening, DTI Region VI Acting Regional Director Mutya Eusores highlighted how Western Visayas is leveraging its strong pool of medical and allied health graduates to build an integrated regional ecosystem for digital healthcare support.

What’s next for 2026?
✅ Responding to global trends like AI, cybersecurity, and digital health.
✅ Developing a validated regional HIMS dataset for evidence-based growth.
✅ Strengthening industry-aligned talent pathways from basic education (DepEd) and tech-voc (TESDA) to higher education.

DTI Region 6 also convened industry experts and stakeholders to assess global opportunities for Healthcare Information Management Services (HIMS) in the US, Australia & New Zealand, Korea, and Taiwan, and align the region’s strategy with emerging industry trends.

The session highlighted opportunities in revenue cycle management, clinical documentation, healthcare data management, quality assurance, and AI-enabled services, while emphasizing the need to strengthen talent, industry capabilities, cybersecurity, and market readiness.

Moving forward, DTI Region 6 will work with partners to develop a validated regional HIMS dataset and workforce baseline to strengthen Western Visayas’ position as a competitive destination for high-value healthcare services and investments.
