In view of the haze affecting several areas in the Philippines, possibly associated with smoke and transboundary haze from ongoing fires in Kalimantan, Indonesia, the DENR-EMB Region VI continues to closely monitor ambient air quality levels in Iloilo City and other areas within the Metro Iloilo Airshed.

Based on the latest ambient air quality monitoring result from the Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Station (CAAQMS) located at Garden of Love, Brgy. Nabitasan, La Paz, Iloilo City, the recorded PM2.5 rolling 24-hour AQI average as of 5:00 PM on September 5, 2026, is classified as โ€œ๐—š๐—ผ๐—ผ๐—ฑโ€. This indicates that the air quality is ๐—ด๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น๐˜† ๐˜€๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐˜€๐—ณ๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐˜๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐˜†, with little or no potential health concern for the general population. Results for other Ambient Air Monitoring Stations will be posted once available.

The center of the Tropical Storm KROVANH was estimated based on all available data at 810 km Northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon or over the coastal waters of Okinawa, Japan (OUTSIDE PAR) (25.7ยฐN, 127.7ยฐE).

Maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 80 km/h, and central pressure of 992 hPa.

Southeastward at 25 km/h

GENERAL OUTLOOK FOR THE FORECAST PERIOD
โ€ข Tropical Storm KROVANH is forecast to move generally southeastward and will enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) between tomorrow morning and early afternoon (06 September). Once inside the PAR, the tropical cyclone will be given its former local name PILANDOK. While moving eastward over the Philippine Sea, it will shift northeastward and exit the PAR by Monday (07 September) before turning northward towards southern Japan.
โ€ข This disturbance will maintain its tropical storm category until Monday and weaken into a tropical depression by Tuesday (08 September).
โ€ข Landfall over the country remains unlikely and this disturbance is not expected to directly affect the weather or sea conditions over the next 3 days. However, it may continue to enhance the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat over Luzon and Visayas in the coming days.
