Drug sweep nets ₱1.2M shabu as Tuaño puts due process front and center

Police seized 177 grams of suspected shabu worth ₱1.203 million and arrested four people in three anti-drug operations across Western Visayas, with the regional police chief using the latest haul to stress that enforcement must stay within the law.

The operations were conducted from 6 a.m. Sept. 4 to 5:59 a.m. Sept. 5 by police units in Iloilo province and Iloilo City, according to Police Regional Office 6.

Iloilo Police Provincial Office conducted one operation that resulted in two arrests, while Iloilo City Police Office carried out two operations and arrested two more people.

Regional Director Brig. Gen. Randulf T. Tuaño said the campaign would continue, but emphasized that police operations must follow established procedures and respect individual rights.

“Our personnel will continue to perform their duties in accordance with the law and established procedures,” Tuaño said.

“We will remain focused on our anti-illegal drug efforts while upholding the rights of every person involved in police operations.”

The seized substances remain subject to laboratory examination. Those arrested are entitled to due process and are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

ILOILO — Isang High-Value Individual (HVI) at isang Street-Level Individual (SLI) ang naaresto matapos makumpiska ang humigit-kumulang 170 gramo ng hinihinalang shabu na may tinatayang Standard Drug Price na PhP1,156,000.00 sa isang buy-bust operation sa Barangay Tubod, Passi City, Iloilo, dakong alas-9:30 ng gabi noong Setyembre 4, 2026.

Naaresto ang pangunahing target na si alyas “CJ,” 34 taong gulang, walang trabaho, residente ng Passi City, at itinuturing na HVI; at ang kanyang live-in partner na si alyas “Dan,” 24 taong gulang, walang trabaho, tubong Leganes, Iloilo, at kasalukuyang residente ng Passi City, na itinuturing namang SLI.

Batay sa imbestigasyon, dati nang nakulong si alyas “CJ” dahil sa kasong may kaugnayan sa ilegal na droga at nakalaya noong Pebrero 2025 sa pamamagitan ng plea bargaining.

Bago isinagawa ang operasyon, mahigit isang buwang nagsagawa ang mga operatiba ng intelligence monitoring, target validation, surveillance, at information development kaugnay sa umano’y ilegal na aktibidad ng mga suspek sa Passi City at mga karatig na lugar.

Sa isinagawang buy-bust operation ng Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET) ng Passi City Police Station (CPS), nakumpiska ang tatlong sachet ng hinihinalang shabu na nagsilbing buy-bust items at 11 malalaking sachet ng hinihinalang shabu na narekober mula sa posesyon ng mga suspek. Nasamsam din ang buy-bust money at iba pang non-drug items.

Mahaharap ang dalawang suspek sa kaukulang kaso dahil sa paglabag sa Republic Act No. 9165 o Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Para kay Police Brigadier General Randulf T Tuaño, Regional Director ng PRO6, ang pagkakakumpiska ng malaking halaga ng hinihinalang shabu ay mahalagang hakbang upang maputol ang daloy ng ilegal na droga bago pa ito makarating sa mga komunidad.

“Ang bawat matagumpay na operasyon laban sa ilegal na droga ay isang mahalagang hakbang upang maprotektahan ang ating mga komunidad. Hindi lamang ang mga nasa lansangan ang ating tinututukan. Patuloy nating tinutukoy ang kanilang mga pinagmumulan, koneksyon, at mga network na nagpapalaganap ng ilegal na droga,” pahayag ni PBGen Tuaño.

“Sa pamamagitan ng matibay na intelligence work, masusing validation, at maayos na koordinasyon ng ating mga yunit, mas nagiging epektibo ang ating mga operasyon. Ang ating layunin ay hindi lamang manghuli, kundi tuluyang putulin ang supply chain ng ilegal na droga upang hindi na ito makarating sa ating mga pamilya at kabataan,” dagdag pa niya.

Binigyang-diin ng PRO6 na ang resulta ng operasyon ay nagpapakita ng kahalagahan ng intelligence-driven policing, tuloy-tuloy na monitoring, target validation, at koordinasyon ng mga operating at intelligence units sa kampanya laban sa ilegal na droga.

Sa ilalim ng pamumuno ni PBGen Tuaño, patuloy na paiigtingin ng PRO6 ang intelligence-driven at coordinated operations upang mapanatili ang kaligtasan at seguridad ng mga mamamayan, kasabay ng pagsusulong ng RESPONSIVE, TRUSTED, and TRANSFORMATIVE POLICING for a Safer Western Visayas.

Students step up as safety partners in Boracay schools

Students in Boracay are being taught that keeping a school safe is not just the job of teachers, parents, or police.

Through Youth Safety Watch, students of Boracay National High School are being trained to become peer advocates who can recognize risks, encourage responsible behavior, and know when to seek help, without turning them into enforcers.

The initiative was highlighted during the 32nd Crime Prevention Week celebration and Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team capability enhancement training in Western Visayas.

It is being carried out with the Malay Municipal Police Station and the local government of Malay through its peace and order and anti-drug councils.

The program covers concerns that directly affect students, including bullying, illegal drugs, road safety, and disaster preparedness. It also promotes leadership, discipline, responsibility, and respect for the law.

Police Regional Office 6 Regional Director Brig. Gen. Randulf T. Tuaño said the goal is to help young people become more aware of what is happening around them and more confident about asking for help.

“Prevention begins with awareness, good guidance, and the willingness to look out for one another,” Tuaño said.

“We want our young people to be confident, responsible, and informed enough to know when to speak up and when to ask for help.”

The distinction is important. Students are not being asked to investigate classmates, confront suspected offenders, or take on police functions. Their role is to notice concerns, support peers, make responsible choices, and bring problems to adults and authorities who are trained to respond.

Tuaño said that kind of shared responsibility works best when young people are backed by the adults around them.

“Our schools are safer when everyone has a role, teachers who guide, parents who listen, police officers who respond, and young people who make responsible choices and care for one another,” he said.

PRO6 also urged students and parents to raise safety concerns through school authorities or police, avoid spreading unverified information, and seek help early when problems arise.

The initiative forms part of broader police and school efforts to prevent violence and other safety concerns before they escalate, with young people treated not as junior law enforcers, but as informed partners in building safer school communities.

ILOILO CITY — Arestado ang mag-live-in partner matapos makumpiska ang humigit-kumulang 120 gramo ng hinihinalang shabu na may tinatayang Standard Drug Price na PhP816,000.00 sa isang buy-bust operation sa Barangay Tanza, City Proper, Iloilo City, dakong alas-8:26 ng gabi noong Setyembre 3, 2026.

Kinilala ang mga naarestong suspek na sina alyas “Noli,” 45 taong gulang, isang High-Value Individual (HVI), at alyas “Jen,” 44 taong gulang, na kapwa residente ng City Proper, Iloilo City.

Nakumpiska mula sa mga suspek ang isang sachet ng hinihinalang shabu na nagsilbing buy-bust item, anim na karagdagang sachet na naglalaman din ng hinihinalang shabu, at iba pang drug at non-drug items.

Pinangunahan ng Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6 (RPDEU 6) ang operasyon, katuwang ang Regional Intelligence Division 6 (RID 6), PDEG Special Operations Unit 6 (PDEG SOU 6), at Iloilo City Police Station 7 (ICPS 7), matapos ang halos isang buwang surveillance at monitoring sa umano’y ilegal na aktibidad ng mga suspek.

Ang mga naarestong indibidwal ay kasalukuyang nasa kustodiya ng pulisya at sasampahan ng kaukulang kaso sa paglabag sa Republic Act No. 9165 o Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Binigyang-diin ni Police Brigadier General Randulf T Tuaño, Regional Director ng PRO6, na mahalagang katuwang ng kapulisan ang komunidad sa pagpigil sa paglaganap ng ilegal na droga.

“Ang bawat impormasyong ibinabahagi ng ating mga kababayan ay mahalagang bahagi ng ating kampanya kontra ilegal na droga. Isang napapanahong report mula sa komunidad ay maaaring humantong sa matagumpay na operasyon, makapagligtas ng buhay, at makapigil sa pagkasira ng mga pamilya dahil sa droga,” pahayag ni PBGen Tuaño.

“Patuloy nating paiigtingin ang intelligence-driven operations laban sa mga indibidwal at grupong sangkot sa ilegal na droga. Ngunit higit nating mapapalakas ang kampanyang ito kung kasama natin ang mamamayan. Sama-sama nating protektahan ang ating mga kabataan, pamilya, at komunidad,” dagdag niya.

Muling hinikayat ng PRO6 ang publiko na patuloy na makipagtulungan sa kapulisan at agad na iulat ang anumang kahina-hinalang aktibidad na may kaugnayan sa ilegal na droga. Tinitiyak ng kapulisan ang maingat at kumpidensyal na paghawak sa mga impormasyong ibinabahagi ng publiko.

Sa pamamagitan ng intelligence-driven operations, mahigpit na koordinasyon, at aktibong pakikiisa ng komunidad, patuloy na isinusulong ng PRO6 ang RESPONSIVE, TRUSTED, AND TRANSFORMATIVE POLICING para sa mas ligtas, mapayapa, at drug-free na Western Visayas alinsunod sa bisyon ng PNP na "BAGONG PNP PARA SA BAGONG PILIPINAS, SERBISYONG MABILIS, TAPAT, AT NARARAMDAMAN."

ILOILO CITY – Dalawampu’t isang wanted persons, kabilang ang dalawang Most Wanted Persons (MWPs), ang na aresto ng Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6) sa sunod-sunod na manhunt operations sa buong Western Visayas sa loob lamang ng 24 oras, mula alas-6:00 ng umaga noong Setyembre 3 hanggang alas-5:59 ng umaga noong Setyembre 4, 2026.

Sa kabuuang bilang, dalawa ang Most Wanted Persons (MWPs), isa sa Provincial Level at isa sa Municipal Level, habang 19 naman ang Other Wanted Persons (OWPs).

Ang sunod-sunod na pagkakaaresto ay resulta ng patuloy na pagpapatupad ng mga warrant of arrest, mas pinaigting na intelligence gathering, at koordinasyon ng mga police units sa pagtugis sa mga indibidwal na may kinakaharap na kaso sa batas.

Binigyang-diin ni Police Brigadier General Randulf T Tuaño, Regional Director ng PRO6, na mananatiling tuloy-tuloy ang operasyon laban sa mga wanted persons sa rehiyon.

“Ang pagkakaaresto sa 21 wanted persons sa loob lamang ng 24 oras ay nagpapakita ng ating tuloy-tuloy at koordinadong pagtugis sa mga taong may pananagutan sa batas. Patuloy nating paiigtingin ang intelligence-driven manhunt operations upang maiharap sila sa hukuman at matiyak na naipatutupad ang hustisya,” pahayag ni PBGen Tuaño.

Pinasalamatan din ng Regional Director ang publiko sa patuloy na pakikipagtulungan at pagbibigay ng mahahalagang impormasyon sa mga awtoridad.

“Mahalaga ang suporta ng ating mga komunidad. Hinihikayat natin ang publiko na patuloy na magbigay ng impormasyon hinggil sa kinaroroonan ng mga wanted persons. Ang bawat impormasyong ibinabahagi ay malaking tulong sa pagpapanatili ng kapayapaan at seguridad sa ating mga komunidad,” dagdag niya.
