Di**le started as a pre-colonial settlement of Sumandig, which was under the jurisdiction of Simsiman, a pueblo of Laglag.[1] The settlement was also known as Sibucao, Ba-ong and Orvat. Di**le became independent on April 23, 1611. In 1629 however, it was annexed to Dumangas and to Dueรฑas in 1641 (until 1825). On August 16, 1850,

by order of Governor General Antonio de Urbiztondo, Di**le again became independent and was officially named the town of Di**le. The first town head was Julio Dator (1823-1827). Fernando Llorente ordered the construction of the Di**le Catholic Church which was completed in 1886. During the Philippine Revolution against Spain, Di**le staged the first armed uprising in the Province of Iloilo. Now known as the "Cry of Lincud", the revolt occurred in Barrio Lincud on October 28, 1898; today the event is commemorated as a special non-working holiday.[2][3] The leaders of the uprising were Adriano Hernandez, Julio Hernandez, and Nicolas Roces. Adriano Hernandez later became a brigadier general in the Philippine Revolutionary Army. He then represented the province at the Malolos Congress. Later, he was appointed Director of the Bureau of Agriculture. Today, his statue stands inside the Philippine Army's Camp General Adriano Hernandez in Di**le, which is named in his honor. Under the Americans, Di**le was annexed to Pototan, the latter being larger and more prosperous. Nonetheless, thru the efforts of Gen. Adriano Hernandez, the separation of the town from Pototan was given impetus in 1907. In 1954, the sitio of Nasumi was converted into a barrio and was added as a barangay of Di**le

The Land Transportation Office in Western Visayas (LTO-6) has issued a strong warning to parents and guardians against allowing minors to drive motor vehicles, citing the legal, safety, and moral consequences of such actions.

LTO-6 Regional Director Atty. Gaudioso Geduspan II stressed that Philippine laws require individuals to meet the minimum age requirement and possess a valid driverโ€™s license to drive legally. Allowing minors without licenses to operate vehicles is a serious violation of traffic laws and exposes parents or guardians to penalties, including fines and criminal liability.

Geduspan emphasized that driving demands discipline, skill, and maturityโ€”qualities often lacking in underage drivers. Allowing minors to drive not only endangers their safety but also poses risks to other road users. Such actions may constitute child abuse under Presidential Decree No. 603 (Youth and Welfare Code) and Republic Act No. 7610 (Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act). These laws impose severe penalties, including imprisonment of six to eight years for violators. | via Gerome Dalipe/ PN
