ILOILO PROVINCE TURNS OVER ₱10-MILLION FUND FOR AGRI-FISHERY INSURANCE COVERAGE

The Iloilo Provincial Government has distributed a ₱10-million cheque to the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) to support insurance coverage for the province’s agri-fishery projects and programs.

The fund transfer is part of the SIGURADO Project, which aims to provide insurance protection to beneficiaries of the province’s agriculture and fishery programs.

The ₱10-million fund will be used for the insurance coverage of all agri-fishery projects and programs of the Province of Iloilo, helping protect farmers, fisherfolk, and their livelihood from possible losses caused by unforeseen events.

🥥 COCONUT COUNCIL MEETING | 2ND ILOILO PROVINCIAL COCONUT WEEK CELEBRATION 🌴

August 27, 2026.

The 2nd Iloilo Provincial Coconut Week Celebration continued with the successful conduct of the Coconut Council Meeting at Hotel Del Rio, Iloilo City, bringing together key stakeholders to discuss the current situation and future of the coconut industry in Western Visayas.

The activity featured the presentation of the Coconut Situationer in Western Visayas, followed by an open discussion on the issues and concerns confronting the coconut industry, providing an avenue for stakeholders to share insights, identify challenges, and explore possible interventions for the industry.

The meeting was attended by Board Member Rolito C. Cajilig, Committee Chairperson on Agriculture; the Philippine Coconut Authority, headed by Joel P. Solis; the Provincial Agriculture Office, headed by Acting Provincial Government Department Head Geron E. Magbanua; Municipal Agriculturists; and Farmer Leaders.

In the afternoon, the celebration continued with the Binalaybay and Composo Contest, where representatives from each district showcased their creativity, talents, and appreciation for the coconut industry through poetry and music. 🎤🥥🌴

Together, we continue to strengthen collaboration among government agencies, local governments, farmers, and other stakeholders toward a more vibrant and sustainable coconut industry in Iloilo and Western Visayas. # #

🌴 2ND ILOILO PROVINCIAL COCONUT WEEK CELEBRATION 🌴

The Province of Iloilo, in partnership with the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA), Department of Agriculture, Provincial Youth Development Office, and other partner agencies, officially launches the 2nd Iloilo Provincial Coconut Week Celebration, taking place on August 24–28, 2026.

With this year’s theme, “Engaging and Inspiring the Youth Today in Agriculture Industry,” the celebration highlights the important role of the youth in shaping the future of the coconut and agricultural industries. 🌱🥥

The celebration begins today with the Opening Program and Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol, followed by the Coconut Exhibit Tour, showcasing coconut products, innovations, technologies, and opportunities in the coconut industry.

The afternoon session will feature inspiring messages and discussions from agriculture and industry leaders, young farmers, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders, followed by an Open Forum designed to encourage meaningful dialogue and greater youth participation in agriculture.

𝐈𝐥𝐨𝐢𝐥𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐛𝐲𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

The Iloilo Provincial Government through the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) convened a coordination meeting on Friday, August 14, 2026 with concerned offices and stakeholders to launch the full implementation of Executive Order No. 72, Series of 2026.

Executive Order 72 establishes the province's Marine Wildlife Conservation, Bycatch Monitoring, and Stranding Response Program which is designed to protect coastal biodiversity and strengthen emergency responses for marine life.

A highlight of the meeting was the introduction of the Task Force members responsible for driving the program's success.
The Task Force will be chaired by the governor with members from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Philippine Coast Guard, University of the Philippines Visayas, and Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC), among others.

Present at the meeting, BFAR Region VI Regional Director Remia Aparri commended the provincial government for its initiative in safeguarding local marine ecosystems.
