The BOI-LOKAL 2026: Learning Festival on Local Economic Development opened today at Diversion 21, bringing together government officials, business stakeholders, and development partners to discuss investments and strategies that can help boost local economic growth.
The two-day learning festival features speakers who share insights on investment opportunities, business development, innovation, and the role of local governments in creating a more business-friendly environment.
The activity also highlights the importance of stronger coordination among the national government, provincial government, local government units, and the private sector to make investment facilitation easier and more responsive.
In her welcome remarks, Provincial Tourism Officer and Provincial Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion Officer Aulynn Yue Sin emphasized that local economic development should create opportunities that reach communities.

She also stressed the need for Iloilo to move beyond being investment-ready and become more welcoming to investors and new technologies.

Meanwhile, Hon. Ferjenel G. Biron, MD., Representative of the 4th District of Iloilo, served as the inspirational speaker and discussed โEase of Doing Business as a Catalyst for Local Economic Development and Investments.โ
Biron emphasized that the success of investments should not be measured by figures alone, but by their impact on communities and the people of Iloilo.
