The Office of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office participated in the coordination meeting of the Provincial Task Force on Marine Wildlife Conservation, Bycatch Monitoring, and Stranding Response held on August 14, 2026, at the Grand Social Hall, Casa Real de Iloilo, Iloilo City.
Conducted pursuant to Executive Order No. 72, Series of 2026, the meeting focused on strengthening response mechanisms, inter-agency coordination, and preparations for a proposed multi-stakeholder workshop on marine wildlife stranding and bycatch incidents.

The meeting was attended by representatives from DENR Region VI (DENR 6), PNP Maritime Group, Philippine Coast Guard–Western Visayas, BFAR Region VI (BFAR 6), Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC), University of the Philippines Visayas (UP Visayas), Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Office (PGENRO), Provincial Legal Office, Office of the Provincial Administrator, Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, PDRRMO, Office of the Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator (OPPDC), Provincial Community Defense Action Center (PCDAC), and Office of the Provincial Veterinarian.

This highlights the Province of Iloilo’s commitment to a coordinated, science-based, and responsive approach to marine wildlife conservation, bycatch monitoring, and stranding response.

The Office of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office participated in the Orientation Meeting of the Validation Team for the Profiling of Informal Settler Families (ISFs). The activity aligned participating offices on the implementation strategy, survey methodology, and operational requirements for the upcoming profiling activity.

During the meeting, participating offices discussed the operational plan, field team composition, and manpower commitments to ensure the efficient conduct of the profiling activity.

The activity reflects the Provincial Government of Iloilo's commitment to strengthened inter-agency coordination and evidence-based planning in support of future interventions and development initiatives for Informal Settler Families.

The Office of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office joined the coordination meeting with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Central Office and various Provincial Government offices in preparation for the SEAMEO RIHED Governing Board Meeting, Regional Policy Conference, and the 20th Annual Review Meeting of the ASEAN International Mobility for Students (AIMS) Programme.

The meeting focused on coordinating public safety and security, emergency preparedness, health services, traffic and transportation management, protocol arrangements, and other logistical requirements to ensure the safe and successful conduct of the international event.

The activity demonstrates the Provincial Government of Iloilo's commitment to inter-agency collaboration and operational readiness in supporting international engagements while showcasing the province's capability to host world-class events.

OPDRRMO joined the Municipality of Leganes in the successful launching of the A.L.I.V.E. Program β€” A Local DRRMC's Intensified Program for Vulnerable Groups and Skill Enhancement and Capacity Building at the Leganes Covered Court.

The launching marked another significant milestone in strengthening community resilience by empowering vulnerable sectors through disaster preparedness, capacity-building, and skills enhancement. PCOL Cornelio R. Salinas (Ret.), MPA, PESE, PGDH, Provincial DRRM Officer, delivered his message of support on behalf of the Provincial Government of Iloilo, emphasizing the importance of solidarity in building safer and more resilient communities.

The Office of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office remains steadfast in supporting initiatives that promote inclusive disaster risk reduction and management, strengthen local capacities, and foster collaboration among local government units and partner agencies. Through programs such as A.L.I.V.E., the Province of Iloilo continues to advance a culture of preparedness, resilience, and shared responsibility for a safer future.

The Office of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer presented the preparatory actions undertaken to support the development of the proposed Iloilo Government Center and the proposed Purok Resilience Program during the preparatory meeting convened by the Office of the Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator for the re-inventory of Provincial Government-owned property in Sta. Barbara, Iloilo.

The presentation highlighted the collaborative efforts of the OPDRRMO, in coordination with the Office of the Provincial Engineer, Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer, the Municipal Government of Sta. Barbara, and other concerned agencies. These efforts included the initial site visit and flood validation, coordination with stakeholders, the request for a site-specific geohazard assessment from the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region VI, and the conduct of joint field validation activities to assess flood hazards and geohazard conditions within the proposed project site and adjacent communities.

This collaborative initiative reflects the Provincial Government of Iloilo's commitment to evidence-based planning, inter-agency coordination, and disaster-resilient development.

The Iloilo Provincial Government, through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, together with the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region VI, conducted a field validation on July 14, 2026, in Barangays Inangayan and Bolong Oeste, Municipality of Santa Barbara, as part of the requested Site-Specific Geohazard Assessment of the Iloilo Government Center and the flood-prone communities along the Mali-ao Creek System.

The activity was participated in by representatives from the Office of the Provincial Engineer, Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office of Sta. Barbara, barangay officials, and community representatives. During the field validation, the MGB technical team verified the location of the Mali-ao Creek System and the government center, assessed existing site conditions, and gathered historical flood information from local officials and residents. The data gathered will support the preparation of an MGB Technical Certification, which will serve as the basis for evidence-based disaster risk reduction planning, the implementation of the proposed Purok Resilience Program for Vulnerable Communities, and other appropriate flood risk reduction interventions.
