The Office of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office participated in the coordination meeting of the Provincial Task Force on Marine Wildlife Conservation, Bycatch Monitoring, and Stranding Response held on August 14, 2026, at the Grand Social Hall, Casa Real de Iloilo, Iloilo City.
Conducted pursuant to Executive Order No. 72, Series of 2026, the meeting focused on strengthening response mechanisms, inter-agency coordination, and preparations for a proposed multi-stakeholder workshop on marine wildlife stranding and bycatch incidents.
The meeting was attended by representatives from DENR Region VI (DENR 6), PNP Maritime Group, Philippine Coast GuardβWestern Visayas, BFAR Region VI (BFAR 6), Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC), University of the Philippines Visayas (UP Visayas), Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Office (PGENRO), Provincial Legal Office, Office of the Provincial Administrator, Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, PDRRMO, Office of the Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator (OPPDC), Provincial Community Defense Action Center (PCDAC), and Office of the Provincial Veterinarian.
This highlights the Province of Iloiloβs commitment to a coordinated, science-based, and responsive approach to marine wildlife conservation, bycatch monitoring, and stranding response.
