DTI Iloilo Strengthens MSME Development Through Entrepreneurship Training for Kakanin Processors in Iloilo City.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Iloilo Provincial Office, in partnership with the Office of the Lone District Representative of Iloilo City, continues to advance its commitment to micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) development through the implementation of the Entrepreneurship Development Training under Project Kakanin.

The training marks the first day of a five-day capability-building program designed to equip local kakanin processors with essential entrepreneurial knowledge and skills. The initiative aims to enhance business operations, improve product competitiveness, and expand market opportunities for participating entrepreneurs.

The opening session highlighted DTI programs and services, providing participants with valuable information on the various forms of assistance available to support business growth, sustainability, and market expansion.

Resource speakers from the DTI Iloilo Provincial Office, including Trade-Industry Development Specialists Charlene Joy Adeja and Daryl Mae Lorene Jacar, together with Business Counselor Sherlyn Canales, facilitated the training sessions and shared practical insights on enterprise development and business management.

Through initiatives such as Project Kakanin, DTI Iloilo continues to empower local food producers by strengthening their entrepreneurial capabilities, preserving traditional Filipino delicacies, and fostering a more vibrant, competitive, and resilient MSME sector in the province.

As a featured exhibitor at the National Trade Fair (NTF) in SM Megamall, Ms. Janice Saladan-Jaravilla of Iloilo Capiz Shells Flowers and Antiques shared the inspiring journey of how their intricate capiz creations are made and how they’ve expanded their reach from local shores to wider markets.
