The Municipality of San Lorenzo proudly receives two distinguished awards from the Philippine Red Cross – Guimaras Chapter: a Certificate of Appreciation and a Certificate of Recognition for its invaluable partnership, unwavering support, and outstanding commitment to the National Voluntary Blood Services Program.

These recognitions honor the Municipality’s continued efforts in promoting voluntary, non-remunerated blood donation and in helping ensure a safe and sufficient blood supply for patients in need. Through the collective dedication of our local government, barangays, volunteers, and community partners, countless lives are given hope and a second chance.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Philippine Red Cross – Guimaras Chapter for recognizing the Municipality of San Lorenzo and for its continued partnership in advancing humanitarian service and community health.

RICE DISTRIBUTION SUBSIDY PROGRAM

The Local Government Support Fund (LGSF), through the Provincial Government of Guimaras, in cooperation with the Local Government Unit of San Lorenzo, successfully distributed 10 kilos of rice subsidy to identified poor households and families across the Municipality.

This assistance aims to provide additional support to families in need and help ease the burden of daily food expenses. Beneficiary households will receive the 10-kilo rice subsidy every month for six (6) months.

A total of 1,800 households from the 12 barangays of San Lorenzo benefited from this assistance:

• Aguilar – 124 households
• Cabano – 200 households
• Cabungahan – 101 households
• Constancia – 176 households
• Gaban – 173 households
• Igcawayan – 165 households
• M. Chavez – 190 households
• San Enrique – 150 households
• Sapal – 150 households
• Sebario – 159 households
• Sucluran – 77 households
• Tamborong – 135 households

𝗔 𝗕𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆

It was more than just a birthday celebration. It was a morning filled with food, laughter, surprises, and genuine friendship as the LGU family came together to celebrate Mayor Jimmy Gajo’s birthday.

He may have arrived at the Municipal Hall expecting an ordinary day at work, but instead, he walked into something a little more special.

From the different offices to our schools, everyone shared a little something to make the day memorable. And, of course, the celebration wouldn’t be complete without Mayor Jimmy dancing to his favorite “𝘏𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘬 𝘔𝘰 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘉𝘦𝘢𝘵.”

Guimaras State University (GSU), in partnership with the Province of Guimaras, is inviting researchers, academics, and prospective presenters to submit scholarly works for the 3rd Guimaras Research Conference, slated on October 15, 2026, at the Agri-Eco Convention Hall, Salvador Campus.

The conference forms part of the 3rd Guimaras Data Festival, held in observance of the 37th National Statistics Month, and carries the theme “Tuklas Pilipinas: Statistics as Beacon Towards Inclusive, Resilient, and Sustainable Tourism.”

The research gathering seeks to foreground empirical inquiry and data-driven scholarship that can inform conversations on inclusive development, resilience, and sustainability, particularly within contexts relevant to Guimaras.

Researchers may submit papers under three research clusters:

1. Education, Economy, and Health
2. Engineering, Environmental Management, and Tourism
3. Agriculture, Fisheries, and Forestry

Submitted studies will undergo evaluation and will be considered for cluster-based distinctions, including Best Paper and Best Presenter.

The deadline for submission is August 31, 2026, while the Notice of Acceptance is scheduled for release on September 7, 2026. The conference will run from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on October 15.

The call provides a scholarly avenue for researchers and practitioners to surface evidence, exchange disciplinary perspectives, and translate data into knowledge relevant to the Province's development priorities.

Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) wishes to donate four (4) set of tablets to the four barangays for the enhancement of healthcare management of its Rural Health Units (RHUs) and/or Barangay Health Centers (BHCs). The equipment will be used for maintaining, encoding, and storing the profiles of individuals who have received vaccines from the Department of Health.

This initiative aims to generate Provincial and Municipal Existing Land Use Maps, which serve as essential tools for development planning, monitoring, and policy formulation. These maps facilitate optimal land utilization as part of NAMRIA's 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗥𝗔𝗠) core function.

NAMRIA's technical team, headed by Foresters 𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗸𝘆 𝗧. 𝗗𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘇 and 𝗞𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗘. 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗮, conducted a comprehensive discussion with selected department heads of the LGU focusing on the validation of the preliminary Existing Land Use Map and its classifications. The discussion also covered the identification of recent developments and changes in land utilization, during which several land use concerns and classifications were raised and clarified. The activity ensured that the mapped information accurately reflected the municipality's current land use conditions based on the inputs and technical comments provided by the participating offices.

During the afternoon session, the NAMRIA technical team, together with representatives from the Municipal Planning and Development Office (MPDO), conducted field validation at selected sites within the Municipality of San Lorenzo to verify the accuracy of the preliminary Existing Land Use Map. The validation covered the fish ponds and salt farms in Sitio Minoro, Barangay M. Chavez; M. Chavez Elementary School; the Man-Made Forest in Barangay Cabungahan; the Globe Cell Tower Sites in Sitio Bantayan, Barangay Gaban; the Cabano Small Reservoir Irrigation Project (SRIP) of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA), which is currently under construction in Barangay Aguilar; and Holy Family Hills in Barangay Tamborong.

The activity also included the awarding of Certificates of Completion to 𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗸𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗮, 𝗔𝗱𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗔𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗜𝗜𝗜, and 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗲 𝗧. 𝗡𝗼𝗻𝗼, 𝗔𝗱𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗔𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗜, of the Municipality of San Lorenzo in recognition of their successful completion of the 𝘽𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙘 𝙂𝙄𝙎 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙐𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙌𝙂𝙄𝙎 conducted by the NAMRIA Geomatics Training Center from June 22 to 26, 2026.

Small Kit, Big Discoveries 🔎

With the goal of bringing transformative science education to every learner, the Municipality of San Lorenzo, in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) – Guimaras Provincial Science and Technology Office (PSTO), turned over two (2) units of the VISSER Comprehensive Kit on July 25, 2026, as part of the Human Resource Development component of the project entitled "𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙀𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝙎𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙏𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙣𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙮 (𝘾𝙀𝙎𝙏) 𝙞𝙣 𝘽𝙧𝙜𝙮. 𝘾𝙖𝙗𝙖𝙣𝙤, 𝙎𝙖𝙣 𝙇𝙤𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙯𝙤, 𝙂𝙪𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙨.”

The 𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗦𝗘𝗥 (𝘝𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘦 𝘐𝘯𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘚𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘚𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘌𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘩) 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗞𝗶𝘁 is a portable laboratory-in-a-box that enables students to perform more than 50 hands-on science experiments in the fields of chemistry, biology, physics, and engineering. The technology democratizes science education by providing an affordable and accessible platform for experiential learning, allowing students to conduct a wide range of laboratory activities without the need for a traditional science laboratory.

Ms. Janelle Ivy Belarmino from the National Institute of Physics, University of the Philippines Diliman, facilitated the training and demonstration, which were attended by students and teachers from the beneficiary schools: Remedios E. Vilches–San Lorenzo National High School, Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava Memorial High School, and Catalino G. Nava Farm School. The turnover of the VISSER Kits was also conducted by Project Leader and Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator (MPDC) Catherine Ann L. Gaurana and Project Technical Aide V Jesslyn Rose E. Magbanua from the Municipality of San Lorenzo, together with Science Research Specialist II (SRS II) Ruby Ann G. Llanet and Project Technical Assistant I John Paul B. Lazada from DOST–Guimaras Provincial Science and Technology Office (PSTO).

Through this collaboration, the initiative not only provided the schools with an additional learning tool but also allowed students to actively interact with the technology, greatly inspiring their interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and encouraging them to pursue STEM-related courses and careers in the future.

The activity concluded on a positive note from REVSLNHS Master Teacher II Venus G. Magan and DCGNMHS School Principal II, Dr. Armida T. Tabaosares conveyed their sincere appreciation to the Municipality of San Lorenzo and the DOST Guimaras Provincial Science and Technology Office (PSTO) for their unwavering support and steadfast commitment to advancing science education in the municipality.

With the VISSER Kits now available in the participating schools, teachers are better equipped to deliver interactive science lessons, ensuring that the benefits of the training will continue to support student learning beyond the duration of the project.
