The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Strategic Initiatives (OVCSI) recently visited Mindanao State Universityโ€“Main Campus as part of its continuing engagements to gather insights that may support MSU-IITโ€™s strategic initiatives related to strengthening health-related academic pathways.

The engagement provided an opportunity to better understand the academic journeys of MSU-IIT graduates who have pursued medical studies, and to appreciate how existing institutional experiences may help inform conversations on expanding opportunities in health education. These discussions also touched on the value of exploring more integrated academic pathways that could enable qualified students to progress more efficiently toward medical education in the future.

Through continued dialogue and collaboration, MSU-IIT remains committed to exploring forward-looking initiatives that build on its strong foundation in science, research, and interdisciplinary learningโ€”toward developing responsive programs that contribute to improving health outcomes for communities across Mindanao.

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Strategic Initiatives (OVCSI) of Mindanao State University โ€“ Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) recently met with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Iligan City Field Office to explore potential areas of collaboration aimed at strengthening peacebuilding and disaster resilience initiatives in local communities.

The meeting served as an initial planning engagement to discuss how academic expertise and research-based approaches from the university can complement community-level programs of the DILG. Discussions focused on identifying strategic entry points for collaboration, including initiatives related to peacebuilding, disaster risk management, and community resilience.

Representing DILG Iligan were City Director Maida Daniot and Program Manager Villebette Sato, while the MSU-IIT delegation was led by Vice Chancellor for Strategic Initiatives Dr. Mark Anthony J. Torres.

The engagement reflects MSU-IITโ€™s commitment to strengthening partnerships with government agencies in advancing knowledge-driven solutions that contribute to safer, more resilient communities.

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Strategic Initiatives (OVCSI) recently convened a coordination meeting to discuss the next steps for the site development of the Research Center for Biodiversity and Restoration Ecology in the Local Government Unit of Tubajon.

The meeting focused on planning and coordination efforts to move forward with the development of the research facility, in line with the partnership previously established between MSU-IIT and the Municipality of Tubajon, Dinagat Islands. The proposed center is envisioned to serve as a platform for advancing biodiversity research, ecological restoration initiatives, and community-engaged environmental studies.

The initiative reflects MSU-IITโ€™s continuing commitment to strengthening research collaboration and promoting sustainable environmental development through science-based initiatives.

The convergence explored early directions, institutional readiness, and collaborative opportunities that can strengthen the universityโ€™s role in health education, research, and community engagement. The discussion highlighted how MSU-IITโ€™s research culture and interdisciplinary strengths can contribute practical solutions to the health challenges faced by communities across Mindanao.
