1002nd CDC and Partner Agencies Conducted Mangrove Planting Activity in Iligan City
On April 27, 2026, Lieutenant Colonel Rommel A. Endozo, PA, Director of the 1002nd Community Defense Center, 10th Regional Community Defense Group (RCDG), Reserve Command, Philippine Army, led organic and reservists personnel from 1002nd Ready Reserve Infantry Battalion in a mangrove planting activity held at riverside of Splanade, Barangay Santiago, Iligan City.
The activity was spearheaded by Frederick W. Siao in collaboration with various Local Government Units (LGUs) in Iligan City. The initiative aimed to promote environmental protection, strengthen coastal resilience, and support climate change mitigation efforts. Mangroves play a vital role in protecting coastal communities from storm surges, preventing shoreline erosion, and serving as habitats for diverse marine species.
The active participation of the 1002nd CDC organic and reservist personnel underscores the Philippine Army Reserve Force’s commitment not only to national security but also to environmental stewardship and community development.
Through this initiative, participating organizations reaffirmed their collective responsibility to preserve natural resources and ensure a sustainable environment for future generations.
