𝗠𝗦𝗨-𝗜𝗜𝗧 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱

The MSU-IIT Youth Chain of Peace (MYCoP) has been recognized as the winner of the Most Outstanding Project for Peace Award under the Ten Outstanding UN SDG Awards: Recognizing the Changemakers of Tomorrow, conferred by UN SDSN Youth Philippines on November 10, 2025.

The award highlights MYCoP’s initiative, Project Peacepreneurship, which promotes peacebuilding through innovative and sustainable approaches led by young people. The project aims to cultivate peace-driven entrepreneurship that connects innovation, inclusivity, and social transformation.

This recognition reflects MYCoP’s continuing commitment to fostering peace and empowering young leaders to play active roles in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), particularly those centered on peace, justice, and strong institutions.

MYCoP extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Institute for Peace and Development in Mindanao (IPDM), especially to Sir Mark Anthony Torres, Director and Vice Chancellor for Strategic Affairs, for his guidance and support, and to our adviser, Ma’am Juvy Cambaya, for her invaluable mentorship. We also sincerely acknowledge our partners and collaborators for their cooperation and support. Most importantly, we celebrate and thank our members, whose dedication, effort, and commitment made this achievement possible.

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Region 10 and the Council of Peace Educators (CPEd) in Region 10 joined the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) during the 𝟒𝐭𝐡 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭, held at Crowne Plaza Galleria Manila in Quezon City. With the theme “𝐖𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝: 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧,” the two-day summit gathered educators, policymakers, civil society groups, and peace advocates nationwide to advance a unified peace education agenda.

The summit emphasized the integration of peace education in schools, communities, and other learning spaces through innovative, inclusive, and culturally rooted approaches. It also highlighted the importance of partnerships among government agencies, higher education institutions, civil society, and grassroots communities in sustaining peace efforts.

The CPEd representatives shared their initiatives during the event, including 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞, 𝐁𝐮𝐤𝐢𝐝𝐧𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐨 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐋𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐨 𝐝𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐧 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲, and 𝐗𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐫 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲-𝐀𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐨 𝐝𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐧. Their contributions showcased practical models for embedding peace education into relevant curricula and peace educators' capacity building.

The summit reaffirmed the collective commitment of educators and peace advocates in shaping a culture of peace—an endeavor that resonates with the nation’s ongoing journey toward reconciliation and unity.

𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: 𝗠𝗬𝗖𝗼𝗣 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼 2025 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁

The MSU-IIT Youth Chain of Peace (MYCoP) was honored as a Finalist in the Outstanding Youth Organization Project Category during the 3rd Pasigarbo sa Diyandi: Youth Leadership and Excellence Awards 2025, held on September 5, 2025, at D’orchard, Bara-as, Tubod, Iligan City.

Through its initiative, 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽, MYCoP gained recognition in two categories: Economic Empowerment, which highlights youth-driven efforts in creating livelihood and sustainable opportunities, and Peacebuilding & Security, which recognizes initiatives that foster dialogue, harmony, and community resilience.

This recognition reflects MYCoP’s enduring commitment to empowering the youth, strengthening community ties, and advancing peace through meaningful action. The Pasigarbo Awards, celebrated during the Diyandi Festival, continue to highlight the transformative role of young leaders and organizations in shaping a brighter and more peaceful future.
