PNP, BIR CONFISCATE OVER ₱25 MILLION WORTH OF ILLICIT CI******ES; ONE SUSPECT ARRESTED IN ILOILO

The Philippine National Police (PNP), in partnership with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), confiscated more than ₱25 million worth of illicit ci******es, including tax penalties, during the implementation of a court-issued search warrant in Estancia, Iloilo on June 25.

The coordinated operation resulted in the arrest of a 42-year-old Filipina for alleged violation of the National Internal Revenue Code, as amended, particularly on the unlawful possession of articles subject to excise tax without payment.

Authorities recovered thousands of packs of untaxed ci******es of various brands from two separate locations in Barangays Zone I Poblacion and Lumbia, with the total estimated value, inclusive of tax penalties, reaching ₱25,072,868.17.

The operation was jointly carried out by PNP units and the BIR following the issuance of a search warrant and the necessary mission orders. An inventory of the seized items was conducted on site in the presence of authorized witnesses and local officials, while the arrested suspect was informed of her constitutional rights before being taken into police custody for the filing of the appropriate charges.

The accomplishment highlights the continuing collaboration between the PNP and the BIR in protecting government revenues and addressing the unlawful trade of untaxed products. It also supports the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to strengthen law enforcement efforts against economic offenses that adversely affect legitimate businesses and public resources. Patuloy nating palalakasin ang ating pakikipagtulungan sa iba pang ahensya upang matiyak na may mananagot sa mga lumalabag sa batas," PGen Nartatez said.

He likewise encouraged the public to report information on the illegal manufacture, transport, storage, or sale of untaxed products, emphasizing that public cooperation remains essential in sustaining the government's efforts against illicit trade.

PNP, DEPED STRENGTHENS SCHOOL SAFETY EFFORTS, RECOVERS ILLEGAL FIREARM AND KNIFE FROM STUDENTS IN APARRI

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has intensified its efforts to keep schools safe after police personnel recovered an unlicensed firearm and a bladed weapon from two minors during a school safety activity at a public school in Aparri, Cagayan on June 26, 2026.

Prior to the activity, personnel of the 1st Maneuver Force Company, 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company coordinated with the school principal. While at the principal's office, the operating personnel encountered three students who were reportedly being investigated by school authorities for cutting classes. Before conducting the scheduled school patrol, police personnel inspected the students' belongings after obtaining their consent.

During the inspection, police recovered one caliber .38 revolver without a serial number, loaded with two live rounds of caliber .38 ammunition and wrapped inside two face towels in the bag of a 15-year-old Grade 10 student. A bladed weapon was likewise recovered from the bag of a 14-year-old Grade 8 student.

The recovered items were immediately marked, inventoried, and photographed at the scene in the presence of the minors, their parents, and barangay officials serving as witnesses before being brought to the Aparri Municipal Police Station for proper documentation and disposition.

Initial investigation indicated that the incident was related to class-cutting. In accordance with established child protection protocols, the parents of all three minors were immediately notified and invited to the school.

The 15-year-old who was found in possession of the firearm was turned over to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) for appropriate assessment, including the determination of discernment under existing laws. The 14-year-old who was found carrying the bladed weapon was likewise referred to the MSWDO for the appropriate intervention program and disposition. Meanwhile, the other 15-year-old student, who was not found in possession of any prohibited item, was released to the custody of his parents in the presence of the school principal.

The incident comes amid recent cases involving students and weapons in schools, underscoring the importance of sustained cooperation among law enforcement, school officials, parents, and communities to prevent violence and ensure a secure learning environment.

The operation reflects the continuing partnership between the PNP and the Department of Education in strengthening school safety programs. It is also in line with the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, which promotes proactive policing, crime prevention, and close coordination with stakeholders in support of the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to provide safe spaces for learners across the country.

"Ang mabilis at maayos na pagtugon ng ating mga pulis, kasama ang school authorities, ay nakatulong upang maagapan ang isang sitwasyong maaaring magdulot ng panganib sa loob ng paaralan. Patunay ito na ang maagang intervention at malapit na koordinasyon ay mahalaga sa pagpapanatiling ligtas ng ating mga estudyante. Kasama ang DepEd, mga magulang, at buong komunidad, patuloy nating titiyakin na mananatiling ligtas ang bawat eskwelahan," the Chief PNP said.

"Our objective is not simply to recover prohibited items but to prevent harm and guide our young people toward better choices. We will continue working closely with schools and our partners to ensure that every learner can study in a safe and secure environment," he added.

PNP INTERCEPTS ₱11.2-M WORTH OF ILLICIT CI******ES IN DAVAO ORIENTAL

The Philippine National Police (PNP) intercepted an estimated ₱11.2 million worth of illicit ci******es during a checkpoint operation in Barangay Marayag, Lupon, Davao Oriental on the morning of June 25, 2026, as part of its sustained efforts to combat smuggling and other illegal trade activities.

The operation, conducted by personnel of the Lupon Municipal Police Station and the 2nd Davao Oriental Provincial Mobile Force Company, with information provided by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, resulted in the apprehension of two Filipino male suspects, aged 51 and 20, who were driving separate vehicles transporting the illegal goods. Authorities recovered around 400 master cases of illicit ci******es with an estimated value of ₱11.2 million.

The recovered items are now under police custody for proper disposition, while appropriate charges are being prepared against the suspects in coordination with the concerned authorities.

The accomplishment is in line with the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, which strengthens intelligence-driven and coordinated law enforcement efforts to curb smuggling and other unlawful activities, supporting the directive of President Ferdinand R. PNP UNEARTHS BURIED ARMS CACHE, WAR MATERIEL IN ZAMBALES

The Philippine National Police, under the command of PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., unearthed a buried cache of fi****ms, ammunition, explosive materials, and subversive documents in Sitio Buri, Barangay Inhobol, Masinloc, Zambales on June 25, 2026, in a focused Internal Security Operation conducted by the Zambales 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), in coordination with the Zambales Provincial Explosive and Canine Unit (ZPECU) and the Masinloc Municipal Police Station (MPS).

The discovery stemmed from information provided by a former member of a Communist Terrorist Group (CTG), prompting a three-day internal security operation from June 23 to 25, 2026 that led police personnel to a buried repository of war materiel. Recovered from the site were two improvised shotguns; 123 rounds of assorted ammunition composed of 10 rounds of 40mm, 33 rounds of 5.56mm, 26 rounds of 7.62mm, 23 rounds of 7.62x39, six rounds of .30 caliber, 25 rounds of 9mm, and six rounds of 12-gauge shotgun ammunition; 20 empty magazines, including 17 for caliber 5.56 rifles and three for caliber 7.62 rifles; one bandolier; four high-explosive rifle grenades; one canister; one non-electric blasting cap with fuse-time and commercial fuse measuring .28 meter; two commercial detonating cords measuring 1.98 meters and 5.46 meters; assorted tactical medical items; and one folder containing subversive propaganda materials.

All recovered fi****ms, ammunition, and other non-explosive items are now under proper documentation and custody of the Zambales 1st PMFC, while the explosive materials will be turned over to the Zambales Provincial Explosive and Canine Unit for proper handling and disposal.

“Mahalagang tagumpay ito sa ating patuloy na kampanya laban sa mga armadong banta sa kapayapaan at seguridad. Ang pagkakarekober ng mga nakatagong armas at war materiel ay isang malinaw na hakbang upang mapigilan ang anumang pagtatangkang gamitin ang mga ito laban sa mamamayan,” said PGEN Nartatez.

The successful recovery reflects the PNP’s continuing commitment to sustaining internal security operations and denying armed threat groups access to resources that may be used to sow violence and fear in communities. It also advances the PNP Focused Agenda, a strategic direction for transformation designed to make police service more responsive and more attuned to public safety needs, particularly through the priority on Enhanced Managing Police Operations, which strengthens intelligence-driven efforts against armed threats and other security risks.

“We will continue to act on every piece of information and pursue locations believed to be used to hide fi****ms, explosives, and other materials of armed groups. Our operations will not stop until these threats are located, recovered, and removed from our communities,” the PNP Chief added.

As the PNP continues to intensify internal security operations to locate and recover hidden war materiel and prevent its possible use by armed groups, under the directive of President Ferdinand R. PNP CRACKS LANAO NORTE SMUGGLING RUN; ₱4-M CI******ES SEIZED, 6 ARRESTED

The Philippine National Police, under the command of PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., arrested six individuals and confiscated millions worth of suspected smuggled ci******es during an anti-smuggling operation along the shoreline of Purok 3, Barangay Bangaan, Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Lanao del Norte on June 26, 2026.

The operation stemmed from a joint shoreline patrol conducted by personnel of the Sultan Naga Dimaporo Municipal Police Station, Provincial Intelligence Unit, and 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company of the Lanao del Norte Police Provincial Office, together with the 5th Special Operations Unit of the PNP Maritime Group and the Sultan Naga Dimaporo Sea-Based Command.

During the operation, the joint team intercepted a blue motorized boat anchored along the shoreline and discovered its cargo of suspected smuggled ci******es, leading to the immediate arrest of six male suspects—five laborers aged 20 to 26, all residents of Pagadian City, and a 40-year-old boat operator from Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Lanao del Norte.

Confiscated during the operation were 101 cases of suspected smuggled ci******es with an estimated value of ₱4,040,000.00, along with one blue motorized boat believed to have been used in transporting the contraband. Investigation further disclosed that the shipment allegedly originated from Picong, Lanao del Sur. The arrested suspects and the confiscated items are now under the custody of Sultan Naga Dimaporo MPS pending proper disposition, while coordination for the turnover of the seized ci******es to the Bureau of Customs is underway.

“Smuggling weakens legitimate trade, deprives the government of revenues, and enables criminal activity to thrive in our coastal communities. We will remain relentless in stopping these illegal operations and in holding everyone involved accountable under the law,” PGEN Nartatez said.

“Hindi tayo titigil sa operasyon laban sa smuggling dahil malinaw ang pinsalang dulot nito sa kabuhayan ng mga lehitimong negosyante at sa kapakanan ng mga komunidad na naaapektuhan ng ilegal na kalakalan,” he added.

The operation reflects the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly its key priority on enhanced managing police operations, by sustaining intelligence-driven and area-focused actions against smuggling and other unlawful activities that threaten economic security and public order. Through intensified coastal patrols and enforcement operations, the PNP continues to strengthen its response against illicit trade routes and criminal groups exploiting vulnerable coastal areas.

“Every successful interdiction sends a strong message that the PNP will not allow our shorelines to be used as gateways for illegal goods. We will continue to tighten our operations and strengthen our presence in high-risk areas to disrupt smuggling networks,” PGEN Nartatez said.
